Default built and JRSC engine on long trips...

i just recently bought a JRSC gsr with a fully built b18. 9.8:1 compression.

anyways, i drove about 80 miles on it straight on the freeway and my EGT temps were around 1200 @75-80 mph after 80 miles. But when i go back to school, it will be about a 2 hour 120 mile drive 1 way.

does any see any major problems i should really be looking out for? i mean, 1200 for EGT is starting to get pretty warm. at about what temp do you think i should really really start to become scared and pull over and get the bucket of water out

I would flush the coolant system and replace with fresh coolant and make sure your thermostat is working properly...if the kit is installed right you should be fine.

My stock motor has probably been on the highway on 2hr trips between Philly/MD for over 20 out of the 30k with the blower, it does just fine.

My understanding of the JRSC is that it only delivers boost when the engine is under a good bit of load. I can't see how it would affect interstate cruising unless you held the car WOT the whole trip....

I have a JRSC Gsr and I just got back from panama city flordia from north Georgia, and my car did awesome. The JRSC delivers boost anytime you give it throttle, but either way dude, it shouldnt be runnning 1200 at anytime. Make sure you flush out your coolant system and check your radiator for any damages.

Bump

$2500 total about 2 years ago, the kit was brand new.

Back to the temp question, your EGT should not be nearly that high. I have gone on many long trips with the blower and it does just fine.

yeah, i knew 1200 was high, but it was only when i went into boost after 80+ miles. It has a C+R radiator but only 1 lil fan and the AC and fan were taken off.

do you think a FAL fan might help any?
