Code 14...EACV..but the EACV unit itself tested good...
well, thats the problem. code 14. i tested the eacv, and it is within specs. i also ran new wires directly from the ecu to it to see if that worked, still didn't fix the problem. I've heard that maybe something like the coolant switch or soemthing is screwed up. Should i change my coolant temp sensor or coolant switch? This ~3500 rpm rev limit sucks. Please help.
anyone know if having an auto ecu would make me not be able to rev higher? anyone know how to identify an auto pr4 ecu from a manual pr4 ecu? btw, its a 89 crx dx w/ b18a w/ 5speed.
I think if you pull the ECU casing off there should be a M/T or A/T stamp on one of the main chips. Check it out. Oh, do you still have your old motor lying around? Try the Iacv off of that, it should be the same (that is, if it isn't a DPFI motor).
If you have an auto ecu you would get code 19 as soon as you start your car. Also place the flat end of a screw driver on the EACV while the engine is running. Place the handle against your ear and listen. Should hear something in there jumping back and fourth at a rapid rate. If not replace the eacv.
hmm i checked with another 5 speed pr4 ecu and same thing. i'm gonna re-wire and check of all my eacv and coolant sensor wires tonight and some other stuff ill post how it goes.

EACV= Electronic Air Control Valve, it's the sensor on the back of the intake manifold near the Throttle body.

but wait, doesn't code 14 deal with IAC Valve (Idle Air Control). witch is on the back of the intake mani. also since you did the dpfi to mpfi. make sure that the green plug is on the iacv. cause i was throwing that code for the longest time and had that 3500 rpm problem thing to. and i put the green plug on there and what do u know, ran great.
oh **** no way huh? i'll try a green plug w/ blue and black wires...hope that works. so you had the same exact problem? and just that fixed it?
yep! if the color of the plug is white that you connected to the eacv then you mixed them up! i did that too before and i was getting the same code and a jumping idle so i switched the white plug to the green plug and it stopped and ran fine! good lucK!
i have the same problem. mine is a 91 dx with a d16z6 swap. im throwing codes 4 and 14. i can figure out for the life of me what is wrong. i dont have the correct distributor yet but it's on it's way. im also hitting revlimiter at about 3300 rpms.
****. is it a light green or darker green plug? i dont seem to have agreen plug, but this isn't the dx harness that came with my car. can you measure the resistance of that plug for me by any chance? that way maybe i can find one with the right resistance. the wires that go to it are blue/yellow and black/yellow right? if anyone can measure the resistance of that plug, that'd be awesome. also, for the guy with the d16z6, for the code 4, check the wires going to b10 and b12 to your ecu. good luck and thanks for whoever can help me.
i've tried a new iacv and it didn't change...and both of the ones i've tried have been within specs as far as resistance goes. im gonna check the resistance on my buddy's dx and see if mine is the same. peace.
