Default Would This Motor Setup Be Better

Normal b-series have the exhaust manifold on the front of the motor and the intake manif. on the back. This makes the exhaust pass under the motor and the intake parts. Seems to me that setup causes a lot of unnecessary heat-soak. It would be better to mount it like this:

It's a dc2 teg with rsx headlights/front end. Don't know what motor that is.

No, thats the king motorsports RSX built for World Challenge.

Not a dc2.

Anyways..... this kind of setup would not be possible using a b-series engine as they spin counterclockwise so turning the engine backwards (which you'd have to re-drill the frame and make custom motor mounts and re-wire half the engine bay) wouldnt work very well.

As long as your exhaust header is properly made (mandrel bends, correct primary size/length, etc) you're not going to see any significant drawbacks from this design.

Spoon Sports makes a heat sheild tape that you put on your oil pan to reduce heatsoak. It goes between the header and oil pan. I wouldn't worry about it unless your running laps on a track.
