Tuning oem cams
Just got both toda cam pulleys, hoping to get some hp from my oem cams, but i have no clue whatsoever where to start from... any feedback from you guys would be very appreciated (degrees used, ...)
here's my setup:
cat-back 57mm Supersprint
Supersprint 60mm N1 Muffler
k&n inside oem box
18º advanced timing
test pipe
header coming soon
fuel cut @ 9500rpm with Toda valve springs/titanium retainers soon
stock ecu, VAFC coming soon
.98 octane gas always

It seems like you stumped some people ...... Everyone here jumps on the Toda bandwagon so I'm not surprised that you aren't getting any responses.

alright, i'll give my opinion of this, hopefully somebody else will jump in.
first thing, why exactly do you want to rev to 9500??? OEM cams peak much earlier than that, and adding stiffer valve springs will only increase your parasitic losses.
i would say to get anything out of your oem cams, you're gonna need that header installed, a bit more fuel at the top end and some dyno time. tuning cams isn't really a big deal, just get to the dyno and start with the intake cam, retard it a bit, if your graph likes it, retard it a bit more. if it doesn't like it, advance it. then do the same with the exhaust cam. also, if you change your cam timing (intake) remember to correct your ignition timing back to where it was. good luck.

I always heard the oem cams are great, altought Jun or Toda-B are awesome cams (no doubts about that), i tought i should try to get some extra hp from my stock cams before moving on, but as you said, people DO underestimate the oem cams in this board(!)...

thanx for your reply. maybe i'll be pushing it too hard, but that was the main reason to upgrade my valve train, to make more rotation, wich i will mainly use on 5th gear. maybe i should only consider 9200rpm, what do you think..?
the header is on the way, also the V-AFC, the tuning is what bothers me, so what you're saying is that i should start by retarding the intake cam, and then move on to the exhaust one - retard or advance?
what do you mean correct my ignition timing, return it to stock, tune cam, then advance ignition again?
