H23 Manual Tensior
I was curious....what's the benefit of using the H23 manual tensioner??? I ahve an extra one and I am wondering if I should put it on my H22 before it is installed.
Thanks
Thanks
I have went through 2 auto tensioners from Honda....and the first time I put it on myself and the belt started to roar after about a month...so I ended up letting Honda put it on and it only lasted about 3 months and the tensioner has gone bad again. Whether it's because of my cam gears or hell for just being boosted I am trying something different and I have looked at the H23 tensioner and it looks like it would just bolt right up. They say the tensioner on the H23 will never go out and it's manual and not self-adjusting. So it's worth a shot. I appreciate the info aeolus.
The last 3 new auto tensioners we have used broke....all in chronological order. We've been converting all H22s to the H23 setup for a while. There are a handfull of parts you will need to do it correctly, but it's worth it, as it will allow for easy timing belt tensioning like the H23. If anyone's interested, I'll dig up the part numbers when I get a chance.

Should add up to ~$160 or so (retail), about the same price as the auto tensioners.

I also just found that auto-tensioner was the cause of my engine failure. The piston is stuck about as far into it as it will go, and does not push back out as it should. Thanks for the part #'s. Is there anything to consider when installing the manual one?
