Default How much does weather affect 1/4 mile times? I ran like s!th.

I went to Englishtown yesterday and was very dissapointed in my runs. As many of you who live around here (NJ) know its very hot and humid out. Anyway here are all my slips:

Here is my first trip to the track back in March, when I only had the intake and tires. As you can see on the slip it was cool and dry out.

Then I went yesterday w/ intake, header, exhaust and tires and ran this. E-town doesn't post weather anymore (they should) but it was in the eighties and muggy as hell.

Does the weather have that big of an effect on the times? I was hoping to run a lot better than this, especially since i felt a good gain in power from the h/e. Does anyone have any idea what i would have run if the weather was the same as last time I went? I know you can't get it exact, but about? Or is the weather not that big of a factor and I need to admit that the header and exhaust didn't do dick?

Help me out guys, this is pissing me off, Im really dissapointed. Thanks.

10 degrees of temperature equals 1 percent HP

Hi,

Yeah, the 40 degrees would def hurt power, as well as the humidity. This probably offset much of the gain from H/E.

Your trap speeds are faster, so you are probably making more power though

Usually in hot weather, you'll lose anywhere from 4 to 6 tenths of your time. The computer just holds back so much from the heat, not to mention the loss in hp.

I think the weather cahnges manke a big differance..or at least I hope so.

I ran a 14.90@91.94 MPH back in January (about 50 degrees outside)
A couple weeks ago...(about 90 degrees outside) after getting new cams and some other crap...I ran a 14.84@93.3 MPH...which I was really dissapointed in. I would have thought Id run a 14.5-14.6.

I did dyno the car and gained 15.3 peak HP and 23 hp + 20 tq in some areas...so I know the car is way faster than .06 improvment.

Thanks so much guys. Between what HX_Guy, Y2kGsR and 98hx99b18c said, Im confident that the h/e did make power, and the weather just screwed with my times. The weather yesterday couldn't have been worse for driving, it was just hot and muggy. When fall runs around, I'm gunna take it to the track again. Maybe then I'll hit the 15.5s I've been hoping for.
