greddy evo exhaust rattle - rear hanger rubbing (pics)
i installed my greddy evo a few days ago, and when i started it up there was an obnoxious rattle coming from the rear passengerside-most hanger.
this picture shows where the rattling comes from. the metal piece (with the red arrow) is rubbing against the metal hanger from the muffler (yellow arrow), which creates the rattle here (green X).
my temporary solution to the problem was to put this onto the end of the metal piece (red arrow above) where the two pieces rubbed together, but as you may or may not be able to see from the picture, the rattling ate right through that cheap rubber thing. (sorry the picture is blurry)
does anybody else have this problem? i looked to see if you could adjust the hangers differently to eliminate the rattling, but i cannot find a way to do this. did i do something wrong in the install? or is there any way i can fix this?

could i cut the very end of the metal piece (red arrow) so its short enough to not touch the metal hanger (yellow arrow)? what exactly is that metal piece used for? i cant see any uses for it, but i dont want to cut it off then regret it later..
My bad, didnt see that the exhaust is hanging on the other, lol.
Anyway, looks like that one is soo the exhaust doesnt pull to one side, thats why it rubs. If you like, cut it, but make sure the exhaust wont pull too much to one side.

i had the same problem with my EVO. don't cut the metal piece that you want to cut because it's there to actually help stop the muffler from vibrating too much. the rubber hanger is suspposed to lean against it. i'd say get a new rubber hanger and see if that helps. i replaced mine and now i'm all good.
ok, i understand what you guys said. but i think i am going to cut it anyway. im only going to cut it so that the metal piece (red) is not long enough to touch the exhaust hanger (yellow) where its rubbing.. but it will still be there to hold the rubber hanger in place. so i'd only cut off a very small portion (probably ~0.5") of this metal piece (the very end of it). im pretty sure this will solve my problem.
Hey let me know if cutting off that metal piece solves the problem because I have the exact same problem you have its so annoying.

i have the same prob. i'm thinking about getting a dremel and slicing the part off. for now i have a little condom on it. well, i cut the fingers off a rubber glove and slid it onto the metal. of course its only a temp solution, it keeps sliding off.
i cut off a small part of that gay metal thing, as i said i was going to above, and it fixed all the rattling. here's how it looks now:
notice how the gay metal thing stops before it hits the muffler hanger, but is still there to hold the rubber hanger from letting the whole muffler shift side to side. i answered my own question and hopefully solved this problem for everyone else who has this problem, too.

i used a torch... heated up the hanger and bent it slightly on the exhaust so that it does not rub against the metal hanger on the car
