I'm getting annoyed. I feel like my car is so slow

Ok, I need advice! I am on the verge of getting rid of this boat and starting a new project like a EG or EK, or maybe getting out the whole game for good!!
Here's my setup: 92 Prelude SI 4WS w/ jdm H22 w/ H23 tranny, CAI w/ K&N filter, DC CC headers, test pipe, Apex'I piping to a 2 1/4" Magnaflow muffler, advanced timing 2 degrees, and DIY earthing kit.
A friend of mine has a 95 Integra GSR w/ a short ram intake, DC CC headers, gutted cat, and 2 1/4" pinched bend piping to a Magnaflow muffler.

Ok. Here's the story..
A few weeks ago (BEFORE I GOT MY HEADERS & TESTPIPE), we raced. We both had a good take off but he kept pulling on me and eventually beat me by 2-3 cars.
Today, (w/ HEADERS AND TESTPIPE) we ran again. But this time, he had his STOCK CATBACK & MUFFLER back on. We both had another good take off but he started pulling away once his VTEC kicked in. By 2nd gear, I started pulling on him. At the end of the quarter mile, we were almost neck and neck but he still won.
So why is it that I put my HEADERS and TESTPIPE on, he put his STOCK EXHAUST back on, and I'm still losing?
I mean, I see improvement from the first race. But he's still beating me, but with his stock exhaust back on.
Also, I feel like my low end sucks *****. Is it just me or are most H22's like that? I just did a complete tune up 2 weeks ago. The chassis has about 215k miles on it. Is the fuel pump crapping out? What are some signs of a shitty fuel pump? What other things can be affect the performance of a car that has 215k miles?
Before anyone says it, I consider myself and my friend's driving equal. Please post productive comments/advice only.

with that many miles it could be the fuel pump, the fuel filter, injectors, distributor, etc, etc. (depending on how many miles are on the JDM engine of course). Throw a small shot on and you'll pull away
oh, and when was the last time you had it aligned? This will cause a drop in overall speed if it's out of whack (not much, but some). Not to mention any worn bearings in the drive line (wheel bearings, etc) will all eat a little power if they are worn out or not lubed... though this is realllly stretching it lol

get an h22 tranny. the gears on the h23 are too long IMO. or get like a turbo, nitrous, or SC. some cheap things that might help are; alittle weight reduction (DIY), AEM pulleys, VAFC (not so cheap), cams/cam gears (not so cheap), and take out P/S, A/C, cruise control. might helpl a bit.
that h23 tranny is part of your problem........it has longer gears......with the h22 tranny it has shorter gears so you can accelerate faster.......I have a h23 tranny in my h22 and I felt the difference immediately....it makes a big difference
Simple. You're H23 tranny isn't an H22 tranny. It was designed for the longer torque band of the h23, not the peaky H22. Get an H22A tranny, that way, you won't drop out of VTEC.
Do you have a heavy stereo system? the power side of your battery has tons of cables...

your tranny is killing you, also your header isnt doing anything for you, the DC header for the h22s really suck, i saw no improvement whatsoever, went to the greddy and saw three tenths and 3 mph,..your low end sucks?? my secondaries are always open, running a chipped P28 and according to alot of people my low end SHOULD suck, yet i pull 2.1s all day off the line..and my 330 mark and 1/8th are very fast, might want to check youe feul system..peace... you should have NO problems pulling on a GSR..at all..peace

IDK but you arent going to lose to a gsr if you actually run 14.5. and if you do run that time then theres nothing wrong. thats perfectly fine for a jdm h22 with a few bolt ons and h23 tranny.

If the only criteria you have for your car is being able to beat some other guy's car in a drag race, just sell your Prelude and get a 5.0 fox body Mustang. It will be faster and cheaper...

i can't believe you did that well with that h23 tranny!!! Forget about getting an h22 tranny, just turbo it and you'll be able to use the h23 tranny. Alot of people scrap the short ratio h22 transmission when they go turbo. As far as the teg beating you, different cars run different on different days. You never know what to expect. My car gets older and older (150k) and it's getting better and better. I'm racing the same cars from a year ago that beat me and now I'm winning. Ha.
