RRG.com airdam technology - a Phoenix Product :)
I am not sure what inspired John to build RRG.com splitters in the fashion he has but it is definately THE product for a gong-show contestant like me. So typically, I am a pretty "keep it on the track" kinda guy .... most of the time. At those very rare (LOL) moments that I decide to go aggricultural, I tend to kinda make up for lost time :D So I have owned a RRG.com airdam since July last year (at least, might be a few months older than that). Although I have gone through .... four (4) splitters in my time, the airdam just keeps popping back into shape - I am just loving this (the pictures REALLY don't do this last romp off into the wild green yonder justice). The following are pictures of splitter number 3 (now consigned to a place on the garage wall as "RRG Taco"
).
The airdam *looked* to me like a complete goner. It was easily half as bent as the taco so I was pretty sure it as retired. I figured what the hay, I've watched John rebuild one before (mine of-course
) and he did it at the track w/ a hammer and vise grips. Well, after 3 hours and 19 dollars (bought a cheapo angle vise) later .... dadah! (still have to repair two hangers on the bumper which I don't think will be an issue - really hadn't looked as I thought I'd be sans airdam for a little while)
Sorry the pictures aren't that easy to make out - flurescent lighting and a video camera don't apparently pick up black splitters and airdams well (especially unwrinkled) - take my word, it's back baby! Thanks John, this is a really cool product and for a yutz like me, it just keeps on giving - please send me an order form for another 2 splitters, at this point, I think its a safe bet I'm gonna need em ;') VIR and LMS still haven't claimed thiers yet

Adam,
Thanks for the product review.
History- RRG.com was a company built from frustration. I was frustrated that nobody built SCCA-style bolt on spoilers/ Air-dams. Period. Back in 1998 I was finishing the ol' H5 Civic and spent countless hours on-line and on the phone trying to find something to use as a spoiler. No Luck.
The current RRG.com A-D was envisioned during the Daytona 500 in 1998. The Nascar boys had low A-D's that wrapped around the front and so I thought, "Hell I can do that too".
After many very crude and crappy Home Depot 'Garden splitter' failures, I finally got something to work. During the 98-2000 EMRA TT season and my SCCA schools the 'Garden splitter' worked out the bugs. The whole business side started with competitors asking for their own units. Splitters came about in 2001 with again much testing and many failures, the rest is history. The EMRA TT series was a great place to get seat-time and to use as product development.
Air-dams will get damaged, It is just what they do!
Adam explained very well the benefits of being able to rebuild the Air-dam. However. Splitters are disposible, very much like tires and brake pads. Splitters will get banged up from off-roading, too hot into turn one's sand trap, dented from a hot-pull, and just normal scraping and racing. Again, this is why they are aluminum and replacements are only $35.00. Try any of the above with a bling-bling SWC $700.00 carbon-fiber splitter. Ouch!
Maybe the best benefit I enjoy from RRG.com are the racers we support. I have about 8 guys that we currently 'sponsor' with products. Maybe another 12 that we give discounts to. I enjoy them winning and having success as much, if not more than I do. There will be no name dropping but many of those guys are top notch racers, GREAT GUYS and many have won championships.
Finally, RRG.com would like to publicly congratulate Jason Franza on his drive during Saturdays CMP RD1 ECHC race. Jason was grided either 30th or 31st and finished 3rd in class and 5th overall in small bore.
Thanks to all the RRG.com team members.

I resemble that remark

And remember, the used up splitters, when pounded flat in the paddock while your competitor watches, make great rear spoilers! A little racer's tape and "voila!"
So John, you gonna have me a RRG.com splitter waiting at BeaveRun??

Entirely! The fact that we've gotten probably 20 odd races on one airdam is pretty cool - shoot, it outlasted the car's paint and the front bumper
Getting 7 or so races per splitter on average is an easy financial justification.

Richard IM sent.
For those wanting delivery to Beaver please IM me.... I'm running out of room in the truck. Hell, may have to leave the car at the shop and only bring A-D's.

I haven't bent one... yet.
Maybe I should try harder.
Scott, proud to be on Team RRG.
PS - And if you're into looks. The pimpy RRG piece can even make a blue ITC car look aggressive. Well... more aggressive than it was.

I haven't done the level of damage that Adam has (it's only been on the car for a little while), but they really do take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. Just pound it out and go. Two thumbs up for a great product.
John -- who's proud to be on Team RRG.
This was the very first time I had it on the car.... it figures.

Thats the only issue with these things. Bend them upwards during a race and all of the sudden you've got some crazy mad lift going on.
Since we can't expect racers to quite going off and hitting things, I guess John needs some "Terminator 2" type metallurgical technology where these things will liquefy and straighten themselves back out.
Can you get to work on that John?

Scott... way ahead of you. We got some T2 material and have made a prototype......... but there is an issue. It retails at $14,634.00 per splitter.
Your a bunch of tools.... but damn what a kick *** team!

The Chute = 1 (you mention dirtying up your ... taco - but was this one destroyed or did it simply require some massaging to get it back?
)

That's four (4) or maybe only three there younstah not 10!!! No points for you on the trailer

Thanks Adam....... Your #42 is an international super-star!!!
Yeah, I stopped reading or keeping track of all the "Club Si" style web-site threads about custom 'Lips'... They were wayyyyyy to much and brain cells were dying quickly.
I almost forgot
...... you still need a couple of splitters.... right?
e-mail or IM me.
Good luck this weekend.

Hey just some questions
Is the splitter made out of aluminum?
Also does it just bolt to the black airdam/lip piece or to the cross member?
How did it affect the handling on the car?

Jamie,
I'm again puzzled and wonder what are your real motives.
If you have legitimate questions.. why not e-mail me like so many others?
