I think the best set up would be 2 in piping and have the N1 muffler welded. I had a custom exhaust on my D15 and it wasnt loud at all, deep. Post the pics when you get it on and everything.

I can vouch for that, his ^^^^ setup sounded really good for being the stock D15.

What you mean slanted is gheto?? Thats a personal opinion so keep ti to yourself!! Anyways I did a 2" catback system on my D15 with a similar muffler and it sounds awesome, I'm not sure what the apexi sounds like but mine is nice and deep and when i let her rip she screams at high RPM. Go with it you won't be dissapointed.

Haha That's rich... Now if everyone decided to listen to you, This board would be pretty useless now wouldn't it... Don't hurt me killer, It is after all just an opinion, Which is what was asked for in the beginning of the post...

Now for my $0.02... I agree that Tilting your canister to the side is ghetto, If you're going to do custom piping, Why don't you skip the rice and run the entire exhaust on the driver side. Less bends = more horses, If that is in fact what you are looking for. And make sure your **** don't sound like someone is rattling a can with a rock in it, It makes me ill...

I run custom bent semi-mandrell 2 1/4" header back w/ turbo muffler and straight through resonator on my b16 91 hatch sounds great and cost less($200.00), but I also have the same set-up in my b18 91 crx and I would like a full mandrell 2 1/2, and nobody sells that, fully custom 2 1/2" willl cost me close to a g

i sold my apexi canister to this kid, i heard it on his rex after and i am so glad i sold it!

he has a d16 with dc header, cheapo intake, test pipe, no resonator and 2 1/4 piping. it sounds way ricey and farty.. it is LOUD at wot but if he tries to sneak around quietly it is fairly quiet i will give the apexi that much. maybe if he had a resonator and cat it would sound better. it does not sound deep at all i would rather have the stock exhaust.

i plan on getting a greddy and removing the resonator =deep and not too quiet. i will leave the cat on, no cat =raspy, tinny sound. my 2cent

In other words, don't run without the resonator!!! I made that mistake and I can't stand the sound of my exhaust right now!!

I don't have a resonator on my car, And once upon a time my crap muffler fell of. I must say I liked the sound of that, It was sooo damn loud, But not a bad loud you know... I fixed it, Simply cuz I like stealth. If I were to get a custom exhaust, I would do everything I could to make it look stock. Maybe 2 1/2 pipe coming from some canister under the car, Let that **** get rusty and nasty mmmmmmmmm...

here is my friends Apexi N-1 mounted at an angle on his crx. looks okay and sounds loud without silencer. with silencer, it gets really quiet in low-mid rpm.

Have a muffler shop that has a performance lean do you a 2.25 header back setup, with a straight through resonator (gets rid of the annoying braaappp sound), and a dynomax or flowmaster muffler in the stock location. Should set you back about 200 bucks for catback, or about 400 with a high flow cat.

well besides all the rice going on you should take into consideration what kind of motor your running and what kind of mods you plan to make. for example. on a n/a motor you might want to think about running a little bit smaller size piping for the back pressure than you would want to run on say a nitrous or turbo car where you would want to increase the size of the piping. there is so many factors that can determine a good size piping you just need to figure out what you want so that you can maximize it. i have a Greddy trust with 2 1/2 inch piping and a straight pipe .. i chose this setup because i am a nitrous user and i want the motor to breath. however if i did choose to all motor im would recosider my setup and shoot for a smaller piping. good luck.

-Ebay buy now price on a Apexi N1 $215

-Labor on 3 hrs of work at exhaust shop $150

-Spending $350 on an exhaust for your d15 rather than buying (at least) a d16a6 for the same cost....Priceless.

http://www.thepartstrader.com/...=1004

95-d16z6 shot block evrything oil pan up. has about 75K on it. $ 120
96 -d16y7 head complete with intake maninford and valve cover 56K on it $ 40

Spend money there rather than on an exhaust..not only will you learn more about hondas, but you will also triple the gains of an exhaust on a d15.

I suggest that you run straight off your headers, and if you want to reduce the noise a bit just run a 2ft. extension pipe with a resonator welded.
