Will Bad Timing Belt Cause Misread on Crank Position Sensor?
I'm getting a code 4 error .. and I remember when I was driving the day the error randomly came up .. the car jerked right before the error came on.
I've not checked my timing belt .. but if it slipped, do you think it would cause my crank position sensor to misread and give me a code 4 error? (btw, since i'm getting this error, i'm rev limited to 3500 rpms)
also .. what are symptoms of a bad distributor? there is a VVERRRYY fine layer of redish brown dust on the parts inside the distributor .. i'm not sure if tha'ts a good thing or not.
THANKS

The brown dust is bad news. The bearing in there is crapping out. It's probably causing the code also.

Yah, I was thinking the brown dust was a bad thing ..
my code 4 .. is that a recoverable thing? Or do you think that sensor is dead?
You think I should replace the bearing? Wil that fix my problems?
Or is my only solution a total distirbutor replacement? (if so
.. wtb: distributor for a 92-95 civic cx)

I usually replace the distributor sub assembly.

What would the subassembly of the distributor actually include?
I already replaced my rotor, and distributor cap btw ..
(soory, this is probably a newb question, but I'm definitely a newb still

No coil or igniter.

this happened to me, find a used one and swap over all the electronics from yours that come out with screws.
You can't replace the individual sensors in the disrtibutor, just the whole sub-assembly.
I also see many cases of people cheaping out and buying aftermarket sub-assemblies and having them crap out in short order.....stick with OEM on this item.
