Default XM Radio question.

Hey guys, I have an Alpine deck which is XM ready, and I have an Alpine XM receiver (see pics below). I have a couple of questions. I still need to buy an antenna right? Will the cheaper roof top antennas work inside the car? Do the glass mount antennas mount on the inside? Also, do I still need the XM Radio Modulator Controller? From what I understand, if my deck is XM ready (it is) I don't need it. Any, and all help is very much appreciated!

Thanks,

Goldfingiz

all you need is the antenna. My suggestion is get the new XM-4 i think it is.. really slim and thin made by Terk. I have the Terk SR-2 (mouse looking one) on my rear deck, and as soon as I get a spoiler i'm going to get the SH rear deck cover for my lude and mount the antenna under the fabric where the 3rd tail light was.

Go back to Circuit City. They sell the antennas there too. That should be all you need.

You DO need the XM tuner still. Even though your deck is XM ready, you cannot recieve an XM signal without it. Being XM ready, the deck is prepared to recognize the tuner...where as a deck that is not XM will not understand it and you would have to buy an FM modulator. As for the antenna, roof mount will work in the rear deck and the glass mount must be mounted between glass. Hope I was of some help.

He already has the tuner.......*hint* look at the next picture.........all you need is the antenna of your choice man. Also, the glass and roof mount antennas will work fine inside the car if you choose to put it there

The roof mount antenna does need to be mounted outside. When I say between the glass I mean that the glass wil be between the antenna. There will be an antenna sticking from the glass outside and then inside there will be another piece connecting to the antenna from the inside. I'll try to find a pic and post it.

They antennas do work in the trunk. I have mine sitting ontop my subbox (underneath the cover) in my hatch. ANd it still works 99% of the time.

Yea, but it prolly wouldn't work if your sub box was inside a trunk. Good deal though.
