Starting a Prelude project car...
DONT WORRY ABOUT THIS, READ THE BOTTOM...
Whats up everyone. Thanx for checkin out this post...
I am about to buy a 5th gen. Anyone have a year reccomendation? Right now im lookin at a well-taken-care-of 98 SH for $9000 with 115000 miles. How long do you think it will last if I start modifying the car? Everyone give me a shout...
I have decided to come ask a lot of questions to people that have already had experience with ludes so I can build a true beast without having to buy multiples of the same thing because I bought the wrong thing the first time...(ex. my friends dad bought many bolt-ons for his supra then decided to go with bigger turbos. he ended up buying tons of nicer stuff than what he already bought to accomodate the bigger turbos... a thousand dollar mistake...)
Im trying to decide which route to take when building it... turbo, supercharger, N/A... I have always been a fan of turbos... think I could fit 2 under the hood? heh... also what are the best bolt-ons to get first... Im lookin at tanabe racing medalion exhaust and I dunno what kind of air intake.. etc..
Finnaly, I wanna paint it that sweet Prelude blue (I think its proton blue or neutron blue or somethin like that...heh) and finish it out with some bronze VOLK TE37 18's but not sure what tires would be best though, good choice?... give me some recommendations (on other wheels and tire sizes too)...
Thanx again for checkin out the post,
later.

i would say rebuild it. but if you do go wtih a turbo, if you go over 280 whp, the ATTS system will be useless. so just find a base, rebuild it, and make it a turbo beast. or you could take the sh, rebuild it, and make it an all motor monster. tanabe is a nice exhust, wtih a greddy header and AEM CAI, you could be on your way to a nicer, faster car. or you could get a JRSC, and make about 235-250 whp and still keep the aTTS system. its all your choice
no offense but if your looking for a project car with some potential for big power, dont go with a prelude. specifically not an open deck h22 for FI.
my car just turned over 101700 miles. Its a 99 Prelude SH with a JRSC on it. I've had the charger on it since 59k miles and its still pulling strong. If you go with a charger, don't get the DC sport exhaust, the piping is just too narrow and its really hurting my performance.
I know they arent the most powerful, but I love the way they look... And besides, I wanted a Kilo-Horse Supra, but my budget for a proj. car hasn't hit the $40K mark by a long shot... heh. Ludes get good gas mileage also... o well.

Not really...I don't know about some of these other guys with turbo Ludes but with my 255 high flow fuel pump I get between 19-24 mpg in the city. On the highway with cruise control is a diff. story... I get almost 30 mpg. And as far as turboing a Prelude....It's the best decision I've made yet. Biggest problem I'm having is putting it to the ground.

I aksed the same thing and I was told it's because there is too much power for the ATTS to control while turning, something like that... ok help me out i dunno!

I like the idea of a t-62 but im gonna leave it N/A for now. Thanks for everyones imput...
Next, should i spend a good chunk of change on a tanabe racing medalion, or is there a better exhaust for less (or more for that matter...)? Also, what are some other good bolt-ons?
Finnaly, Im lookin at VOLK 18" TE37's. What do yall think? Also, what tires should i go with if i dont need nice ones and im probably just gonna **** around with em (burnouts and ****). Ill get nice tires later but i wanna do some impressive burnouts for my friends... lol. And i dont wanna **** up $500 TE37's, so what tire size would keep em pretty well protected? I live in georgia and have mostly minor road flaws around me... most are avoidable.
Thanx for reading up again... Lates!

i have the tanabe exhaust and i like it alot, nice sound (kinda loud). although it sticks out a little farther than most because of the small *** tip. i would post pics but i dont know how.....
good choice of wheels, but 18s are gonna give you like a 35 series sidewall.....so dont hit potholes.... if you want cheap tires go to wallmart or some ****...

Hey... what is up with this whole "you cant post more than 5 things in a 24 hr period???" and why cant I put a pic under my name and I cant message people...?
Whatever... give me a shout... Later
O yeah... what is the pipe size on tanabe racing medalions?
