Okay, here are the supplies you need:
1. A toggle switch from autozone or your local hardware store
2. Electrical Tape
3. Wire Cutters
4. Patients and creativity
I took a toggle switch and wired it in between my fuel pump. Extended the wire to a hidden location(creativity). Hide the toggle switch very well. When you park in a (not so good) area...switch the toggle switch position to off. When You get back in, turn it on! When someone tries to start you car, it will run for the good few, but then die, do to no fuel. Hey, its not the best security system out there, but it is a precaution, and only something my broke *** can afford. Give me any ideas and tell me if you think this is a good Idea, or bad idea, and if it can be improved.

OR...What you could do for no price at all is simply remove your coil wire & take it with you when you park your ride in "Undesired" areas. Or just unplug it if you don't want to take it with you. The car will not run without it. Just my 2 cents for broke *** people like ourselves!

Lol, but hey, what if they had an extra coil wire in their pocket....ok, I am getting a little carried away
I pull the ECU fuse personally. Good luck starting it without one.
BTW: For the switch, which wire did you splice it into? what about the rated amperage of the switch? will anything work?

The switch idea sounds cool, pretty simple to arm and disarm after its installed

I am telling you this to kill time when going somewhere. When you go out to eat with a female or significant other...You don't want to pop ur hood, or unbolt your ecu. I would rather just say hold on, flip the switch, k...lets go. I mean, its gonna be pretty hard for a car thief to find that switch, let alone to figure out what the hell is wrong. I have also heard of people switching their spark plug pattern around, and I have also heard of people taking their battery cables. But personally, I don't want to go through all that **** for a precaution, but I guess you can never be too safe. Knaw mean?

I don't know if the amperage would work or not. I just picked a wire coming from my fuel pump.
BTW, are you talking about the ecu fuse under your dash, I guess that wouldn't be a bad idea either

yeah, i've been thinking about doing this for a while too, although even after hours of sitting in class thinking about where to hide my switch, i still cant think of a place where it would be well hidden and wouldnt be to obvious what im doing when i switch it. i know noone wants to post up where their switch i hidden or anything for security reasons, but if u have any ideas i'd really appriciate it if u'd PM them to be
thanks
thanks
id put a switch on the ECU personally, but any theif deturant is a good idea.
just get a pin switch and put it like somewhere on the center console, like behind near the rear. Not hard to reach behind you...put it in the ash tray.

another idea is that if you do have an alarm instead of putting the starter interupt onto the starter relay, put it on the fuel pump relay. you would have to put the switch on the black/yellow wire coming from you fuel pump. So, everytime you arm your car, your fuel pump is automatically disabled, and then put back online when you disarm your car.
dunno if this works, but you know how you cant start your car without pushing the clutch pedal? How bout you find those wires and hook them up to a toggle switch. So if someone tries to start your car it wont even turn over.

Whoa it does? maybe your year civic wasnt equipped with that or something...i dunno. But if i try to start my car without pressing the clutch, it wont turn over or anything, just the dash lights are on.

88 Civic's and CRX's did not have a clutch neutral safety switch... 89+ only. If you look above the clutch pedal, you'll see the switch. My brother fabricated his own switch for his 88.
Or you can just unbolt the engine, put some straps on it n wear it like a back pack
Seriously it just sounds like too much trouble to pull the ecu fuse or take your plug wires or all that crap. When you take out the ECU fuse, dont you have to let the car run for a while before you can drive it again so the ECU can set itself again? thats such a pain.

Nah I just let idle for a minute or so, then go easy on it for a few miles.

dude
u are basically taping the wrong wire at the wrong spot..... all u need to do its ta the yel/blk wire of the main relay... that way u will actually kill the fuel pump. ignition and fuel system.....
this way the car will not pump gas, will not trow a spark, and will not trow fuel into ur combustion chamber....
the engine will turn turn turn without starting..... thieves will not stay there trying to start a POS..... so there u go....

Good call USDM 4G VTEC...
I remember when I was trying to get my B16 going and I had one of those wires sliced... would NOT start but would crank crank crank...

out of all of these...i think the clutch sensor idea is the best.
cuz a thief might just sit there cranking the engine over for like a minute and do damage to the engine.
how would i connect a switch to the clutch sensor?

You might not have to because it get's it's constant memory power from the hazard fuse, for example pulling the hazard fuse to reset the ECU. So there is a pretty good chance that pulling the ECU(Edit: ECU FUSE) will not reset your saved maps.

cant be. hazzard fuse interrupts power to ecu. pulling batery cable does the same thing. pulling ecu does the same thing as well. when the car is off and the ecu is in, it uses a **** hair of power to maintain its most recent "maps"

Look at the top of the clutch pedal and you will see a cylinder with a button on it. Follow the two wires coming from that. You could cut one of those wires and run it to a switch somewhere.
