Default will this slow me down?

If I were to hook up say...1 12 inch sub...at 500 watts. Will this slow me down? Is the extra pull on the alternator going to slow me down? I guess I could just turn all my audio equipment off during a race?

The extra weight may slow you down a little. As far as the alternator, I would not race my car with the stereo up anyway.

The extra pull on the alternator for your stereo will take some power away from your ignition system, which results in a weaker spark coming from your plugs. I would rather race with the stereo off anyway though, so I can hear what's going on under the hood.

not to mention any generator gets insainly harder to turn as the power being pulled off increases.
