Help: moonroof cracked by hail storm
Hi gang
Sadly my poor civic was hit hard by a hail storm a few weeks ago. The whole car is full of little dents...the moonroof was hit hard and have several cracks...and surprisingly, the windshield was perfectly fine.
So what are my options now? where can i find a replacement? do i need the whole assembly or just the glass?
is this something i can do it myself or have to take it somewhere to get it fixed?
Thanks
Franklin

It is fairly simple to remove the moonroof assembly. I'd probably have a helper around to help you lower it down as it's fairly heavy and akwardly weighted. Not sure if you can get only the glass, but that would seem to make sense. It seems to me that since all of the other moonroof parts are available individually that the glass would also be the same way. My strong feeling is that it would more than likely be a special order item, but can definitely be had. If not, the junkyards would be a good place to look.
i'm not sure how bad the cracking is on the glass, but i've had a similar crack on mine for over a year now with no problems. i know it may sound dangerous.. but it does not so much as rattle or move or leak at all. and mine runs from the front to the back so it runs the full length of the glass.
