Would you like to play with Grassroots Motorsports?
We have some articles in the works for our magazine, and they require a few cars and drivers: a Spec Miata, ITA Honda CRX Si and ITB VW Golf GTI. (We could maybe be talked into using a Honda Challenge car or another Honda.) Our plan is to take some typical race cars and see how much faster/better we can make them during one day of testing. We'll bring the experts, scales, cameras and note books--you would need to bring the car and enthusiasm.
The testing will be done during the first week of May at Savannah's Roebling Road. (Yes, it will be a week day.)
Our ideal cars would be the following:
- Able to make a weekday test day at Roebling Road during the first week of May.
- A "home-built" car that's a good mid-pack finisher--not a 10/10ths, "shop-built" car yet not a clapped-out piece, either.
- Legal.
- Have an owner who plays well with others and wouldn't mind a little exposure in the magazine.
If this sounds like you, send an e-mail my way: grmdavid@aol.com. Tell me a little about you, your car and your racing experience.

Very nice offer. Wish I could play but, alas, can not. Now, where did I put that damn race car.....?
Well, since we'll be on Roebling, we'd like to stay with road race cars. However, that's not to say that an autocross tuning piece isn't in the works.

I remember a few years ago you guys took a CSP CRX and played with it for a while. That was one of my favorite pieces. Please do another Auto X article.

Yep, this article will be a lot like that CSP CRX piece. (Wow, good memory). And yes, we do have a date. Want2race, if you're interested, drop me a line. Tell me about you and your car. Please send some pictures, too, if you have them. Thanks for all of the interest.

I doubt I'd qualify for this, but I've got a CRX that I autocross/daily driver now that I'm slowly converting over to an ITA car.
Last year the car was stolen and returned after 5 days + 64 miles or so.
I just replaced the brake system, have a new set of bushings to go on the car, and installed a set of Koni yellows, single adjustables surrounded by an Eibach Pro Kit.
Currently in race form, I'm using 14x7 Borbet type -T rims with VictroRacers mounted. Oh and a modified ignition switch courtesy of the guys who stole... I mean borrowed my car.
I was hoping to get another year or so out of the car as a daily commuter, but hey if you guys would help me build it, I could retire it from daily use.

Thanks for all of the interest in the piece. We have a certain car/driver/situation in mind, and I think we'll nail it--should make for a cool article, and we'll keep everyone posted. We hope to have some cars selected by the end of the week.
And if anyone has a nice, clean street CRX Si for sale, well, you know where to find me....

Um, you qualify for having a cool car. How's that?
And while we have done these types of articles in the past, I see a lot more in the future. Not all will involve Hondas, but they should all teach something useful, no matter what car is used.
