Default head gasket

I have a deal where the head gasket is blown but not really, its brand new. I put my car together and the other day drop the engine in and was ready to fill the rod bearings up with oil so i killed the injectors and spake. Start it and the starter didn't turn. So i pulled the plugs out cause i thought maybe it was fighting the comprestion and right as i turned it coolant pushed out of the cyl. I looked down into the cyl and everyone of then is filled with coolant. now i have to pulled the head apart to find out what happen. I have copper o- ring and a mr gasket head gasket. my sleeves are from golden eagle 84 mm and so is the gasket. I touque the head down to spec with what arp head studs. I am sure its the head gasket not sealing right. Just wanted to know what you guy think and if anythign like this has happen to you. And what is the best way to take off all the belts on the pully side. what i should ask is what is the best way to take off the head. I was so easy when the engine was out of the car. the block was deck and the head was resurfaced.

the old head gasket was a 81 mm so it would fit anyway, so to answer your question no i didn't used the old one. I called golden eagle. They told me since i had my head resurface and the block decked the pin might be to long. Has anyone heard this before. I know before i send everything off it was 0.04 block and 0.04 head.

Well .04 does seem like much, but when added and it comes out to almost .1" it starts to seem like a bigger deal. So yes I would say thats probably your problem. I think you shouldve been able to tell if it was tightening down or not though. Either way your timing will also be off a bit, but you probably already knew that.

I was thinking the same thing, but its almost a 1/12 of an inch you shaved off, plus the headgasket if you were running a thinner head gasket. Thats too much "play" for those pins to have in them, I mean after all, hondas are built to excate specs. No 68 ft/lb of torque isnt enough to crush them down, after all you could probably step on one of them and it wouldnt do anything, and that would be 150+. Sorry...you live and learn.

my gasket is 0.30 so if anything it would of lifted it up more. I am not saying thats not the problem. But what is the stock thickness of a head gasket.

.029" is the stock thickness.

Edit: are you sure yours is .3 and not .03 or is the .3 in mm?

Sounds like you're going to be taking your head off yet once again.

I knew i had to talk the head off. But do you think it would of seized the engine. What happens to some of you guys that have had that. I know that some people have a blown head gasket and the coolent leaks in and burns off so if its seized what do i need to do. I don't think it did though.

You never got your car cranked and up to normal operating temp did you? If you havent cranked the engine, then no damage has been done. Point being is that you just need to cut/sand the pins and then put it back on and you should be good to go...or so I would think.
