just finished zc install, some questions...
ok, i got a single cam zc and i finished installing it. everything went ok. the valves sound a little noisey so im about to go adjust them. but the tach seems to go smoothly up to 3k, then it gets a little floaty...seems like a grounding issue? but the only ground i messed with was the valve cover ground. aslo if the timing is off, would it cause the tach to do that? timing shouldnt be off, but i'll have to check on it, i matched the distributer up with the marks left on it from the washers, so it should be good and the engine timing is fine. any ideas on the tach?
ok got the tach problem fixed, believe it or not it was the extra ground on the valve cover. i disconnected it and the tach worked fine i also did a valve adjustment, and the engine is still noisy as ever ill hafta try it again.
next question, it idles at 1000, can i adjust my tps for this? or is there somethin else i need to adjust? thanks

you can adjust the idle through the idle adjustment screw thats located on the throttle body, you can tighten it to do the obvious let less air in(lower idle) and open it to raise idle as well.. You can do this the correct way disconnecting the IAC valve and using a handheld tach to help you do it, or you can do it by ear or trial and error since your idle doesnt seem to be that far off.. but basically its the screw on the throttle body.
i adjusted the valves twice now. still noisy as ever. the tach is still floaty in the morning when the entire car is cold. in the afternoon its fine....im gonna clean my battery ground up and check all the wires again...the idle is down, but still not right on the line...but thats good enough for now.
i was thinking it was the injectors...but i sounds so much like the valves...plus they are from my prelude...same as the stock d16a6 ones...and i dont remember them being that noisey...
ah yes, my tach is jumpy whenever it feels like it now...d

ive heard of and experienced quite a few really crappy honda tachs....they just seem to be very inaccurate sometimes, and they seem to just break sometimes for no reason. it might be a ground, but it might just be a crummy tach. my zc makes a bootie load of valve noise(dual cam)but it sounds exactly like every other zc i've ever worked on

i was sitting in the bank line today and stuck my head out the window and smelled gas. there were 2 cars beside me, but there was an atm machine and big brick wall between us and i smelled gas. maybe the injectors im using are bigger than normal civic injectors and its the injectors making the noise. the tach is still pissing me off...waiting for the weekend to clean the grounds.
i have oil leaking inside the dizzy, through the shaft. im thinking that is messing up the ignitor or some other electronics in there. but thats money to get a new or reman. dizzy. anyone know if i can take it apart and replace a seal or 2? to stop it from leaking?
the tach problem is from the coil and ignitor going bad change them out and it should be fine if you have a check engine light come on and its code 9 you have to change your dist. that means the crank angle sensor went bad. the coil and the ignitor's go bad often on honda's
i'll have to get a coil and igniter...but wont they just go bad again since the oil is leaking. the cam seal isnt leaking, its leaking through the shaft somehow...
