can i tune my car with a slightly slipping stock clutch?
hey guys ive hit the cross road where its time to tune my car...im going to be doing the aem ems and getting it tuned, but i wanted to know with my clutch will it still be able to be tuned to its full potential? im only going to be tuning to 8lbs until later this summer when i drop a build block in...the clutch still grabs n everything...no real sign of heavy slippage...just a little here and there...mainly after i run it real hard...if im normal driving..the clutch is fine...what do you guys think? can i tune the car with the clutch in this condition? ill be able to drop a new clutch in within a month so it would only be temporary...thanks in advance!
Why not put in a new clutch? it'll take an afternoon, and they aren't that expensive...infact, i have a friend with an exedy for sale that'll fit your prelude...
really but the exedy clutch wont hold the power im wanting to put to the ground...but its cuz i have money for tuning n what not of an aem system and will have roughly half of what i need for a clutch after i spend it tuning the ems...thats why, but i mean can it be done?
you should be fine with a stock clutch for now....if you need a clutch let me know. I have an ACT 4puck disc I need to get rid of. It's brand new and I'm asking 50 bucks for it. All you need is a plate and you're set.
oh ok...well its not really slipping bad...and im only gonna be tuning to about 8 lbs...when i boost now it doesnt slip...its jus the stock clutch and i mean it still grips, just not super hard...but i can tell its slightly starting to go...not real bad though...it doesnt slip under boost by any means u know? n if i can go a couple more miles on it and get it tuned i might as well...cuz when ur tuning ur tuning for air fuel right? and the clutch wont have much to do with it right?

I have the same question. If it's slipping slightly, it should be fine for tuning correct?
