Im pricing out motor swaps for my 91 civic. The most reliable source I have to do this swap has told me $3300 Canandian for a B16 SiR motor installed into my car, and thats including the motor, mounting kit and labour, on the other hand I can get a D16 installed complete including labour and motor for $2000 Canadian. Its a $1300 dollar difference. I jus want a motor that I can get performance out of when I add aftermarket parts. (DPI sucks!!) What should I go with???
When you say D16, if you are talking about an a6 motor, then dont bother for 2k. You can do an mpfi conversion yourself for a few hundred dollars. Now a y8 or z6 swap is another story...
damn prices are always an issue...anyway, why don't you just save the money and install yourself there are plenty of B16 swaps that you could get for $1300 for everything....hell eventhough its California we have b16's for $1000 installed....
in my honest opinion if you have the money the b16 would be the better platform, more hp and torque than the the d16 will ever have, mods are readily available, plus its a great engine to go either forced induction or all motor.
however if you don't have the money and want to get a swap right now then i don't think you really have a choice, go with the d16z6
