Default b20vtec... in 1991 HF

hey guys.. just wondering about how much it would be for a full on hardcore b20vtec in a 91 HF... including EVERYTHING needed for the car to run, i was thinking around $4,000 something around there.. also.. everyone has exhaust and intake and headers.. my question is this.. do you honest to god, seriously need them? i mean if you get an engine swap, can your car live and drive fine without them? thanks guys

You could do a bad *** b20vtec for 4k, and for that much you could build the bottom end up a bit, maybe sleeve it for some big slugs, go with some good cams that will give you a good hp gain, and invest in some slicks and there would be no reason not to hit a low 13 to 12 second run if you practice your driving, just get your 60ft down, and drive right. You dont need intake and a header on a stock motor, but they help a bit, but on a built motor you will see big gains over stock, a high flow exhaust would be neccessary in your case because the hf exhaust is not high flowing, and the b20 would need that. Good luck!

first off the weight doesnt affect the handling enough to make any street car driver really notice. I can swing the backend out on my rex before the front will hardly push and thats on drag radials.
Second you can hit low 13s on street tires (drag radials) I ran 13.4 @106 only making like 208 whp in crx. And that was like my 5th pass ever on a track.

I would say $4000 would be a minimum you could pull this off for.

What I got into was answering this question

"I am spending all this money on building this engine, am I going to scrimp and not invest in ________?"

Fill in the blank with : Head studs, oil pump, valve springs, new pistons, new rods, headwork, block work, bearings......

Luckly I had sold the ITA car and had a wad of cash to spend - and spend it I did!

Weight is really only a big issue when you start putting the h seris motors in, crvtec's are strong if there built right and fast. Good luck
