Default New clutch is in, what is the break in period?

New clutch is on my ZC tranny now. I read the instructions but it doesn't mention anything about the break in period. Aren't you supposed to not exceed XXXX rpms for XXX number of miles?

Most people just say "Do some easy city driving for 500 miles..." So, whatever that means to you. I personally wouldn't rev it past 4k.

i heard rpms dont really matter, but you dont want to put much load on it .. also dont want it to chatter either

What is load? Like dropping the clutch at 7000rpms or something?

Yes, dropping it, slipping it, even jumping on the gas with it already engaged. Its just like taking it easy on brakes the first xxx miles (check with manufacturer for recommended #). You could glaze over the friction surface/flywheel or accelerate the clutch wear from over heating it.

ive got a stage 3 clutchmasters on my b16 and they told me 500 miles, no down shifting like at 40 mph dropping to 2nd, and no power shifting, they said revs dont really matter, and no like burn outs lol

RPMs are irrelivent. What your trying to do is avoid heating up the surface too much before it has a chance to wear in. No 'dumping' the clutch, riding the clutch excessivly, etc. And make sure you put a good 500 city miles on it.

The clutch only really wears when its not engauged right? When its enguaged it doesn't really matter. So basically no ******* the clutch and shifting to much. I should just granny drive for a week or so (I drive like 500miles/week).

I think the idea is to get a lot of nice soft shifts in, that's why you can't do highway miles. I just got my car out on the road today with an exedy racing clutch and put 120 miles on it. It sucks being in a VTEC equipped CRX and driving around under 4.5k.
