Fuel filter change is cake, unscrew your gas cap, grap a 12mm socket for the service bolt on the out line off the fuel filter, unscrew that, a little gas might come out. Now grab the 17mm ratchet and take off each line, use a 10mm on the bracket and pop in the new filter. Remember to use new copper washers, one on bottom and one on top of each line, and then there should also be a new one for the service bolt. The washers normally come with the filter. I think the torque on the service bolt is 7lbs and the 2 17mm lines is 20lbs. I've been doing a lot of fuel stuff this week so it's all fresh in my head.
Anyone else run into the problem that when you go and try to loosen the banjo nuts that 2 things happen first the whole damn filter rotates and then possibly bending the metal bracket that holds it?? All 3 that I have taken off recently were a real PITA!! I just want to see if I was doing something wrong??? How did you go about loosening them without the filter rotating or bending the bracket?? I guess that it probably doesnt help that all 3 were probably the originals on the CRX's though huh??

Well that makes me feel better that I wasnt the only one with the problem you would have thought that Honda would have came up with a better holder for the fuel filter and well some quick connects would have been nice also....

I don't have the exact fuel line layout in my mind but isn't this what flarenut wrenches are for?

When you say a flarewrench arent you talking about a line wrench? Basically a box end with a cut-out? Like a brake line wrench? If thats what your talking about I dont see how that would help?? I mean all it is is that the banjo bolts are just so tight and the filter twists and bends the holder that the fuel filter is in.
I always just grabed on of the lines on the metal part to keep it from spinning. I've never had any problems with that or grab a oil filter wrench and hold on to the filter your gonna trash it anyways, just a suggestion for ya'll

I had this problem. I just said "ok, its gonna come off.. if the bracket breaks oh well, but the lines are comming off"
So I put a 2 foot pipe on the end of my ratchet and just gave it a good jerk and it came loose. Yes the bracket was bending like all hell, but its still sitting in there straight till this day. Maybe those things are built well enough not to break under all that bending.

i just recently replaced mines. Just make sure that the screw to the braket that is holding the fuel filter is really on there tight so that it wouldnt rotate easily. And yes the braket will bend but i think it pretty tough. It shouldn't break unless your twisting the whole thing 360

Yah thats what a flarenut wrench is, but like I said, I didn't know how the fuel filter is layed out in my head. I know a lot of cars need the flarenut wrench for fuel lines though, just a guess, sounds like it was wrong though.

Thats a good idea I never thought of that
I guess one of those plier type oil filter wrenches would work wonders the only problem is if its really tight and you need both hands to get the damn line loose.
