Which Turbo?
Ok, planning on turboing the lude this summer and im not quite sure which one would be more "user friendly" ive heard f-max, and greddy ( which i heard doesnt increase hp much, due to the exclusively loud BOV ) and drag gen...yadda yadda...but i want to know which you guys prefer out of them all...or if you have any horror stories do tell...also one more thing....i need a shif **** for my car that fits well onto the factory shift boot ( you know that little silver mini plate thats at the top of the boot that the adapter fits in from the factory shif **** ) anyways hit me back guys!!

well depending on how much HP you want you should base ur decision on that and as for greddy not making power cuz of the loud *** BOV is false..and besides the BOV is what makes the turbo...we all know that
j/k
If you do a search you will find alot of information on here and if you really want to learn and be a boost god..lol pay $6 for PO.com...they have a very good FI archive
as for the shiftknob....all i know is that every aftermarket **** will not work with that silver clip thingie...either get rid of it or keep the stock one

if you know what are you looking for, go with a custom built kit (find parts and buy them seperately)...if not then go with f-max or drag...i personally like the GT series turbos made by HKS (really made by Garrett with the HKS name)...they are twin ball bearing for the most part and good quality stuff...the gt2835 would be perfect for a well built motor...i guess the answer to your question though is to just do some research because a turbo setup is all about what you want the end result to be...good luck dude!
ya like they said, it all depends on your goals. do you plan on boosting the stock engine forever, untill it blows, or just building it from the beginning. do you have a whp goal, or do you just want more.
custom is they way to go, but a little more exspensive, and takes more time, but in the you'll know what you have and a lot more about how it works.
when i was thinking about kits, i looked at the fmax, but stay away from that fuel mgmt. crap. drag is good, but there intercooler's are small, and pre-gen 4 manni's crack.
i went w/custom kit, on full built engine, ironically i got a drag gen 4 manni, heard that the newest ones are really good.
there are a lot of people on here w/good deals, and i can get a few of my own.
if you got any questions or need anything let me know.

edit: you should come to this meet and get to know everyone. i went to my first one a few months ago and it was great. check it out.

Hey Vinny thanx man! I really am thinkin about doin custom now....but wouldnt it be safer to have lower compression pistons and resleeve the block? anything else i need to make this happen? i dont want any problems at all, im the type of person who gets frustrated and sells the car if it causes too much grief....i understand the casual odds and ends that " werent tight enough, or misplaced" but nothing more than an easy fix ya know? oh yeh i ment to ask you....do you know anyone that might have a passenger side window on a 5th gen? someone broke into my car 2 weeks ago and i dont want to pay a deductable for a window?! anyways hit me back man! thanx again
if you can find an FMAX kit, they are nice, the new Drag 4 is very nice as well. I'm a fan of the greddy kit, but would like to see prices come down a hair. FAMX is no longer in business, they've been nought out by Turbonetics, so it'll be tough finding one. Think about Maxrev, they are my favorite "kit", but you have to have piping made for it. I went custom...

No one likes the Rev Hard kit...... i think its awesome....never had one problem with it..... but truth be told if you have the money the pacience and the knowledge do a custom kit..... i like rev hard intercooler piping because it goes all the way around...... it doesn't double back like some other kits.... both work well but the rev hard looks better.... plus you can't beat their manifolds..... DEFIANTLY RESLEEVE the block..... 20 psi or 6psi....... RESLEEVE if you want a reliable set-up .. it'll cost you about a grand.... but way worth it when you're talking 3 grand to get a new motor.. cuz everyone knows turbo's eat anything that ain't stronger in the car..... I learned that the hard way.... I put a turbo on my car without upgrading other stuff, (started with stock motor etc) then i blew the trans, the motor, the radiator, the cat, and a axel all within a few months....back to you...then of course buy forged rods/ pistons/ fuel pump / injectors..... start simple as far as fuel managment..... with a safc/ avc-r............ or even a t-fitting for boost control for now..... you can always upgrade... such as the motor.... you can start with a stocker....but don't boost more than 6-7psi.....if you want it to last a few months
lets see what else... umm.... since you said you get frustrated and sell the car just like that m gonna go ahead and assume you have a lil extra loot.... in that case.... you want to get a aluminum radiator, keep things cool.... i dunno about emmission where you are but a test pipe might be a good idea.....which leads me to say a nice exhaust....i like thermal.....so does everyone else...... a good ignition would be a good idea.... msd 6a is fine..... plug wires...a bunch of little ****.....
AND MOST IMPORTANT.... a GOOD EXPERIENCED(in preludes/ turbo hondas) shop to do all this stuff for you........ cuz you defiatly want it done right if you don't want problems..... and the only way to do that is to spend the money to have a good shop do the work......... resleeving the block i would send that to GE...and soon, they are gonna get backed up as **** with the warm weather coming out
hope this helps
