Do you have to take the front bumper cover off to change the red emblem?
I took my car in to have the red emblems replaced because they were starting to crack, and I was told by the service manager that they had to take the front bumper cover off to do so.
Well when I got the car back, there was a screw missing that attaches the top of the bumper cover to the front frame of the car. You can see the row of black screws when you open the hood. Also, the bumper cover is broken where it attaches to the passenger side fender.
So, I took the car back in to show Acura that they needed to fix the bumper and get another screw, and Acura is now telling me that they didn't take the front bumper cover off, so there is no way that they lost a screw and broke the piece that holds it to the fender. They tried to say that I hit a curb or that I pulled into a parking stall too far and hit one of those parking stall stops (don't know the name for them), that they car was low, and that's probably what happened. Oh, and the screw must have vibrated loose. Well seeming that I have never hit anything with my car, I grew offended at what BS they were trying to feed me.
My problem is, if they didn't take the bumper off (regardless of it needing to be taken off or not), why the hell is there a screw missing when it was there when I took it to them?
Thanks for the help.

Why didnt you change the emblems yourself?? You dont need to take the bumpers off. Since you said the emblems were starting to crack, might as well just crack it off and put the new one's on. There is a major difference between aftermarket emblems and OEM emblems.
The aftermarket, other than having the wrong color, is just a sticker whereas yours has 2 little pins that stick out. Thats good cause it helps align the symbol correctly.
As for the BS you are getting from the dealer, I dont know what to say. Its hard to prove things like that for each case...if the bumper just needs a screw, I would say screw it and get your own screw and do it yourself.
But since you said they kinda cracked it, you might wanna get your lawyer involved...its hard to prove a case like that though....

Ask them if you can speak to ther regional/district manager, then see what they say...
I have found that just asking "who is your boss? May I speak with them" until someone takes care of it usually works.

The reason I didn't do it myself was because it was covered under warranty. Well, I am going to pick up my car here within the next half an hour. I doubt I will get anywhere with them though.

I had mine removed for free with a scredriver or pocket knife....only I wasn't asking anyone to do it for me.
Unfortunately I would have to say I THREE have had the "luxury" of getting the emblems removed for free with a screwdriver..
Boy I would like to take their screwdriver and shove it you know where!!

THE SERVICE DEPT IS CORRECT..
The front emblem has 2 metal clips on the pins coming from the emblem, The correct way to replace them or remove them is to take off the bumper and pop off the clips, For anyone doing it themselves or paying to have it done no its not necessary but if its covered under warranty who cares.

If the dealer won't play ball call the number on your Acura Total Luxury Care card -- the other number, not the roadside assistance number -- and tell them about it. When my local dealer gave me the wrong floor mats in my new ITR and then said they couldn't (i.e. wouldn't) fix it, I called Acura. Now, mysteriously, it's being taken care of. Too bad that's only one of several problems I have with this dealer.
After your service you should get a survey to fill out for the work they did. To let u know the dealership will get into big trouble with Acura if they get a bad survey back to them. I would do that route if they won't fix it
