i purchased a cut off rear half section of a rust free 91 CRX Si shipped 40kms for $230CDN (i think it was a good deal) from Millers Auto Wreckers in Fort Erie Ontario and wanted to know if anyone has replaced the rear crossmember before. i need to have this done because mine has damage in 2 spots of the crossmember and i now have every part needed to fix my car. can this be done, TIA.
I sent my Rear quarter panels off to the other side of the country,, and they were welded on... too bad the guys best friend hit a deer a week later..

OK, here is actual information about your question.
I have done a few rear crossmember replacements. quite a job.
First, start by unbolting the steering column coupler, It's located inside the car.
Lift the carpet under the pedals and you will see a tubular looking plastic cover coming out of the firewall wrapped around the steering column. there is a metal clip you need to release to open the cover. You will need a 10mm wrench and a screwdriver to hold the steering column from moving. remove the 10mm bolt. You are done on the inside.
Now remove the wheels. remove the sway bar. remove the catalytic converter.
Remove the horizontal 17mm bolt at the rear mount. Unbolt the steering rack. You might have to unbolt the tie rods, it depends on if you can wiggle the crossmember and leave the steering rack attached to the suspension. swap the crossmember, put everything back on in the reverse order. If you are replacing the steering rack at the same time along with the crossmember you don't have to unbolt the steering rack, it can come out with the C/M
Lots of work.
EDIT: spelling

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what his post says he is talking about the very rear crossmember i.e what the rear LCAs bolt to. If that is the case I have no clue if you can replace it. If you do I am almost positive that you have to use a welder to put it back. There are no bolts.
I think you are right. Now that I re read his post it seems that he wants to replace the rear suspension mount. That will require lots of cutting and welding by a skilled welder.
Good luck with that!
Good luck with that!
aparently you can buy the rear crossmember from honda so i guess its possible, and i have a skilled pro to do the work, i will take many pics for refrence and post the install thanks!
I've seen it done on a 90-91 hatchback.
Basically he had to de spot weld all of the spot welds that hold it on.. You have to strip everything off the rear floor board. And its basically a bitch and a half. He did it in 2 days by him self with a mig welder and some grinders and such. He had never done it before and said it wasn't very hard at all.
