how much potential does a DOHC ZC have?
the zc is obviously cheaper and easier with no hassles to install...so how much can i do to it?
i was thinking maybe a junkyard turbo set up running like 5 or 6 PSI, maybe sopme internal work also...
how does the stock zc black handle turbo and how hard is it to come by internals for the zc?

The ZC has a lot of potential. The only problem is that it is very hard to find internals for it. Way more torquier than the b16 at low rpms. Only problem is top end. I did my swap total for about 800 dollars. I have nitrous and it seems to hold up well so i think that a turbo wouldn't be a problem for it.
The DOHC zc handles boost well.....If your going to be running only 5-6psi I wouldn't even worry about internals but yes there are companies out there that make internals. If your looking to boost the motor and get some serious gains I would sleeve the block and purchase a set of crower rods and pistons.....The dohc zc gets a lot of negative feedback because of it being old and no aftermarket support but if you look harder you will find plenty of parts for the motor and good luck with your ZC
my boy had a 89 hatch with a homade turbo kit. he just put it all together and the snail was a garrett t3. that was FAST. he beat other turboed cars, other turbo cars, and many many other people and only like 7 psi. then he put JE pistions and Crower rods....he only booseted like 10 psi before he put in a new motor but he had no problems and that was fasttttt. no the internals are in a crx si motor and hes booting and workign everything with a single cam turbo

That's what I'm running now. I have a 91 Si hatchback (not CRX) on normal tires. I run it hard at the track, but not as hard as I could. I launch at about 2000 and lift on my shifts... at about 7psi I'm currently running 14.0. I know for sure that I could run 13s, but I was alone at the track, so if I broke something, I was hitching a ride home... I didn't want that.
For the money, you'll beat a lot of everyday cars. At the track, I was running faster than most of the newer Mustang GTs, most of the Z28s, many of the older 5.0 stangs, etc, all on a $399 motor with a Greddy Kit.
I know a 14.0 isn't lightning fast, but for what I've done/spent, it isn't bad. No need for anyone to respond with the usual "My boy with a SOHC with only MSD spark plug wire holders ran a 12.4 in 90 degree heat uphill on tires made of teflon".... I'm not bragging, just giving you a reasonable estimate of an unutned ZC with 7psi...
Oh, and that's with an FMU and stock injectors. With some sort of decent fuel management, you should be able to knock off a few tenths with tuning.
