Default Target Weight for STX ITR?

What is a good target weight for an ITR running in STX at the divisional level and (hopefully) nationals this year? Currently my R weights 2,510 without driver and a half tank of gas.

well you can pull the ac, and get some light weight race seats. that might drop a little over 100lbs.

Light weight rims if you don't have any can add up to near 40lbs shaved, also a light weight battery can shave about 40lbs aslo. ...and added light seats, no AC, no ABS, no Cruses control, no washer fluid, 1/4 tank of gass, after market I/H/E, you could lose 200lbs or more total EZ.

You won't find many STX legal seats that are lighter than the stock ITR seats, and the ones that are out there are ugly as sin.

Don't invest in seats. There are better places to put money into the car that will shave more weight than seats.

FWIW, my R is lighter than 2500lbs without driver, and will be even lighter this year than it was last year at nats.

"it's a poor handyman that blames his tools..." i'm trying to make the peru pro, so that may happen. i'll have to see how bad i get my *** handed to me at petersburg first though. it may not be worth the trip for dfl.

and to get this back on topic....i would say 2500lbs w/o driver is a good weight for that car. the real competition is the suby's, and those pigs weigh 3k lbs.

yeah my Integra RS is sub 2500lbs w/o driver, and i'm a lighter driver at a bill seventy. i'm also planning on ditching my AC sometime this season too....that should be a couple pounds and off the front where it matters most!

Unless you like really like Pros, don't waste your time there. Come to the Peru Tour.

That would be a more accurate representation anyhow.

Oh, I'm not blaming the tools, just the 25 degree temp difference between the two days (Falkens + heat = suck) and the addition of an entire days worth of extra rubber on the course. If you don't think those factors matter....it does considerabily.

Wow... sounds like the gauntlets has been thrown! I think Nate should bump himself to STX for the Peru Tour so we can have a little grudge match

Personally though? I think an ITR should be able to get down low-mid 2400's pretty easily. Maybe 2436.2lbs ... or somethin' close to that.

Good point. Maybe he should!

And an ITR in STX is very very capable of being in the 2400lb range. I think there even might be one sitting in my garage...

Let's look at some items and their weight savings:

Base weight stock - 2680lbs

Light wheels - 11lbs wheels vs 16 stock - 20lbs
Exhaust - 35 lbs?
AC - 50 lbs?
Battery - ITR battery is pretty light so maybe 10lbs
Rear wing - 20 lbs? is removal legal?
rear wiper - 10 lbs? is removal legal?
spare, jack, tools - 25 lbs?
front spoiler - 10 lbs - is removal legal
radio -5 lbs
speakers - 5 lbs
airbags - 20 lbs is removal legal?

2470 - stripped

Lots of guesses here and not sure about STX rules.

Regards,
Alan

Some of this is not legal for STX, which is what this person is asking.

Are you sure about that? I could have sworn the AC from my RX-7 was way less than that. It's only a compressor, some lines, and the coil+condensor.

Thanks for the responses guys... I'm sure there is some more weight I can find in there. I'm debating chucking the AC...

Aw come on, you can chuck the AC. I ran my Integra without A/C both in Houston,TX and in Phoenix, AZ. It does get a little warm though... lol

Vracer "A/C? We don't need not stinkn' A/C!" 111....

Flux, before you go removing stuff go have your car weighed because these quoted base stock weight numbers seem off...

I had rodney ( then a NYS certified weighmaster) weigh my R last year before I removed anything and with a half a tank of gas and a bunch of CD's and loose change the thing weighed 2560 lbs...

So what I'm saying is check it before you do anything, just like dynoing before and after mods to really know the numbers, not just what your *** feels.

Just my .02

we were down to 2350lbs with the full cage at Grand AM cup last year ..

nothin in the car except safety stuff and seat

nothing was really trimmed except for the drivers door to allow the cage to make the safe bent for the driver

n more plastic in the car except for the dash
i guess that with most of the plastic remainning in the car u can get down to 2400lbs pretty easily
we were running with all metal and glass ( no lexan or CF parts yet )
and that was with full gaz tank and no driver

Well figure my 2000 Honda Civic Si is down to 2508lbs with 1/8 tank of gas, AC, Power Steering, stock seats, and 14lb wheels. And I know the Type R should be lighter (right?). So go for 2500.

I got this from Moutons... Pretty sure that this means you can put any seat not constructed of an outer shell since thats what it says.

There arent any seats, including fixed back seats, that are lighter than the ITR's??

I think there are... buy them just for Nationals to save even a little weight.

What do ya think?
