On Monday I will be working on my sis's 95 Prelude Si, w/ the H23 motor. According to her mechanic she is losing coolant by the water pump and oil (probably from the cam seals). So rather than pay over $900, she is going to let me do it.
While I have done a timing belt/water pump on my car, a 99 Civic Si w/ B16, I fear that this will be more difficult due to even less open space in the engine bay.
Any suggestions or tricks that any of you can provide would be greatly appreciated. The following is the list of parts that are on order now.
Helms Manual
Timing Belt
the other belt by the timing belt
Water Pump
valve cover gasket set
cam seals
Upper and lower rad hoses
Tensioner
Anything else??
Thanks a lot.

I just changed my timing belt and water pump earlier this week. Not to difficult just takes a long time. If you look in the Helms it talks about pins to lock the cams with cyl 1 TDC. Make sure you have those pins because they are very useful. Air tools would be very helpful but not necessary to get the pulley off. (159ft/lbs) also make sure you have a torque wrench that will go that high. Also in the Helms they recommend that you replace the seal around the adjuster nut. I didn't because mine was in good shape. Other than that just have time....

OK, that'll work !!! God only knows I have plenty of Allen wrenches !!!
So basically, just take my time, follow the Helms and it will go OK, right??
Nothing too demanding, just very time consuming.
Thanks !!!

The adjuster nut is for the tentioner. When you look above and to the right of the crank pulley you will see it sticking out from the lower cover. I used allen wrenches at first instead of the pins but it still had some play which is fine just I found it easier to use something that fit in there better. I actually used drill bits. The end that goes in the drill since it is smooth. Yes you do want to adjust the valves but it tells you to do that in the Helms. Fairly easy job to do. Don't sweat it. Just give yourself plenty of time and don't rush it. Folow the directions step by step and it will go smoothly.
