Default switching Head units?

I just got my radio jacked from my 94 Prelude... My friend is willing to give me his stock Honda head unit from his 00 Civic SI.... Will they fit without any trouble... or will I need a new mounting kit or holding unit... or will it not even work? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I need help with this too. I gots a 00 Si OEM head unit going into a 92 hatch. The Si wiring harness has 4 more wires then the hatch audio wire. I try to power up and nothing. Anyone have any clues?

I believe most Honda radio harnesses are the same for the years 1988-1998. After that it's hard to be sure. Try a search and try cross-referencing part numbers I guess.

most honda head units are compatable. but if not the same plug go to a store like good guys and ask for a car wire harness for the car then ask for the stock stereo harness for the car the radio came out of. Them match up the colors and pluig and make good connections. Best to solder them. plu in the radio then done. I think each harness cost around $10.00. Best thing to do is bring in the car and stereo. Tell the installer what you are doing and they will give you both harnesses.

yes you will need the reverse harness that some shops sell to customers when the radio was stolen and the harnesses are cut.. parts are a met 701720 and a met ??1721(something..) forgot the other harness part number..

Just did a 99 si hu in a 96 accord the other day. Harnesses are different so had to buy both harnesses for the si and accord. We just soldered the wires together from the plugs and used a spare harness as a reference. The accord doesnt have a dimmer for the stock hu so just capped off the dimmer wire. Oh and mounting the hu was also tricky since the si has a different mounting bracket. A few zip ties and sticky putty solved that problem.
