Hmmm, the outer splines should be both 26 since Si and DX was the same. However I heard that the 88s had a different number of inner splines than the 89-91, I know that 88 had 21 clutch splines, and 89-91 had 20, so I wonder if the 88 had different number of inner axels splines. But I'm not really sure.

that's the input shaft that has a different # of splines.

yes, you will be fine with dx axles on your si tranny.

I thought in order to go to the SI tranny you had to replace the axles because on the DX youhave no intermediate shaft. They have one long and one short axle. Or is that only on the 92-95 SI model trannies?

yes u can use ur stock axles on the SI tranny.... all 88-91 have the same input shaft (the end that goes into the tranny) just the outer one (that goes into knucles ) are diff from STD to the DX and si's(dx+si same )

yes they will work, I did that on my '89 DX hatch when I did my ZC Swap and ran an Si box , that was before I moved on to the ZC trans with integra axels. But yes it does work. Been there, done that.
