How to remove axles w/ out taking out the ball joint???
I have searched and found nothing. I know there is a way to remove axles and not have to break that lower ball joint. Anyone know how? On my cousins 85 REX we removed the front shock/spring assm. and then the hub just went flimsy and we moved it and pulled the axles out the tranny. Is this how? Just curious if its the same on the 2nd gen rexs.

You have to pop the top or bottom ball joint. Reason for this is because the hub is fastened and holds the axle in and there is not enough room to pop the CV joint out of the tranny.
Just pop the joint and pull her out.
Just pop the joint and pull her out.
You CAN remove the axle without popping the lower ball joint. All you need to do is unbolt the radius rod from the lower control arm, unbolt the shock (which you need to do anyway), and unbolt the lower control arm from the rear crossmember.
