Default Opinions needed on a Custom Exhaust

I plan on going turbo so lets keep that in mind. Right now i have a DC SS 4-2-1 and I want to hook it up to the stock exh. w/ a cutout in between. What size is the stock exhaust on the DX CRX? The idea is to be able to bolt the cat back in when emissions roll around and then put the cut out back in. Heres what I was thinkin, header to flange to pipe to cut out to pipe to flange- stock exh. cause i dont think the cut out will be as long as the cat. The reason why I want a cut out is because the more open the exh. on FI the better, but I have 3 paper routes and you cannot drive w/ an open header w/ out people calling the cops (tried it! doh!).

it's already been done for you:
http://www.testpipe.com

and the stock dx exhaust should be somewhere around 1 7/8", at least that's the size my 91 std hatch had.
