Default Spinning the R

Sorry to the Black R I passed while spinning through the hairpin this past weekend.

Did anyone happen to see, or better yet catch a pic or video of my crazy ~100mph spin off the track, across the hairpin and up near the wall? It was during the 2nd Sunday Intermediate 1 session. If so, I would like to hear about it, or see the pics/vids!!

I saw the spin, it looked absolutely ruthless. I was right behind the black R and coming up fast on both cars when it happened.

I'm glad you didn't hit the wall.

I thought it was Kyle, at elast in out group. What happened, I leave early and MORE of you guys go turf stompin?

I just watched the Vid of Chris in the ATS car when that white R lost it in front of him... All I gotta say is that Chris's reactions and reflex were on point, him going off for that 20 seconds was the better choice than the other options.

Wasn't me.

Only time I went off was on Saturday during the last session. Didn't slow down enough for T4 with the well worn Panthers (thanks again Aaron - I wouldn't have even made that session without those pads ) and overcooked the turn. I thought it wasn't wise to try and save it so I just went off the track to do a controlled stop.

Kyle - who WILL be on race compound pads at the next HPDE

didn't see it, but came up fast behind right after it happened.. all i saw was you up the hill by the wall, lots of R's slamming on the brakes, and crap all over the track..

glad you were ok though.. as far up as you were, we couldn't tell if you went into the wall or not..

kitkatR...
Yeah, sorry about that. I thought I was going to spin right over you!! You must have waited to turn in for me, yes? Thank God you saw me coming.

Can you send me a copy of the pic of my car up by the wall?

Yes, it was me who spun. I was parked next to Aaron near the Mugen truck. I was also the guy who moved from the Beginner group to the Intermediate 1 group Sunday morning.

Anyway, it went like this...
I was moving pretty good down the back stretch moving up through VTEC in 4th. The black R ahead of me (now known to be kitkatR) tapped the brakes before the kink (Turn 9); I didn't. 1st Mistake: I watched kitkatR turn in instead of watching the apex of Turn 9 go whizzing past. Obviously, this left me a little late. I was getting seriously "sucked" off the side of the track toward all the cones telling you to stop for the hairpin. 2nd Mistake: I broke where I was braking all weekend, unfortunately I was still not settled from be so late through the kink. I started to counter steer while sliding to the left. 3rd Mistake (I think they always come in 3's): I held the counter steer too long and the car whipped back and spun to the right.

The rest was pretty much like a carnival ride... Upsidedown dirt "waterfalls", not really knowing what direction I was headed, praying I was not going to go backward into a wall. After spinning off, back on, across the hairpin (I think), back off, and up toward the wall... the car managed to stop spinning enough to see the wall coming... SEE THE WALL COMING!! Again with the luck, we stopped short. I don't think Warren was very happy with my performance; it was his first ride with me, and our first "hot lap", too.
