HELP!!! I keep breaking axles!!!
Last night i broke my third axle in a month... the first that broke had a bad boot, and had been clicking for quit a while, so i expected it to go at some point...
i had a new axle put in to replace that one, and it broke two weeks later,
so i had another one put in on monday and it broke last night...
I have not been going to a honda specific shop, just one here in town that i have used a few times before...
does it sound like they may be doing something wrong?
my car is lowered, (not sure exactly how much lower than stock, but the front fenders are 22.5" from the ground), and i have an ingalls camber correction kit installed and my camber is pulled out to 0deg...
is it possible that my modified suspension geometry is messing up the axles and causing them to break?
PLEASE, I NEED HELP QUICK, BECAUSE I'M TAKING MY CAR TO A HONDA SPECIALIST TO DROP IT OFF TONIGHT
ANYONE THAT HAS DEALT WITH A PROBLEM LIKE THIS BEFORE, PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR ADVISE
p.s. the last two axles that have broken were driven normally, even conservatively, and they havce all broken on the pass (short) side at the joint closest to the tranny...
thanks a lot

yes, it is possible that the geometry is the culprit. That doesn't necessarily mean that its the fact that you're lowered though. Have you checked all your motor mounts? Make sure they are in ok shape, but a camber kit isn't a bad thing if you do have a camber problem. I would get an alignment after that to make sure everything is good.
It's most likely your suspension settings. Why in the world did you set your camber to 0? If you're worried that it will wear your tires, it doesn't have much of an effect as opposed to toe settings. You'd be better off with about 1-2 deg. negative camber; even stock there is some negative camber.
I'd take your car to a good alignment shop, and have them check your caster settings. If your caster is way off of spec, it could be the cause. Basically, take your car to a good alignment shop (maybe one that specializes in alignments only), and have them take a look.

has your car ever been hit? my teg did the same thing ...the whole front was f'ed up...looked fine but the motor wasnt square and i kept blowing my drivers side axel.
yeah whats happing is its pulling apart ..... does it break when you turn???

yeah, twice it happened while i was turning a really sharp corner... and once while i was going down a curve...
i think that it was in a wreck before i got it, but i've had the car since september '02 and am just now having these problems...
the alignment was done at a good alignment shop, and they set the suspension to what was supposed to the the correct spec for this car...
i was having caster problems with on that side immediately after the first axle blew... but that was supposed to be something to do with the way that the two adjustable ball joints (camber kit) on the upper a-arm were set in relation to each other, and my caster is supposed to be in spec now...
and the motor mounts could be the culprit? how will i check that?

nope, d16a6 with just a few minor bolt ons (header, intake, clutch etc.)
so it's not like i'm overwhelming the axles with ungodly power or anything either...
