What King MotorSports thinks about all the ITR's burning oil...
These guys are great...
I briefly explained how prominent the oil burning problem is among my fellow ITR owners, curious of their mechanics opinion.
The reply:
Ryan,
1qt in 3k on a t/r engine is not too bad. These motors are thrashed pretty hard by most people and half the time they were not broken in properly.
We have not had any problems with our motors if they are properly broken in and they use redline oil.
Regards
King Motorsports
Hopefully this leads to one less grey hair, if our cars are driven right.

I had ZERO consumption from both days using Schaeffer 10w30 (http://www.schaefferoil.com/data/703.htm) $2.80/qt too
My car has never burnt oil on the plain old whatever the oil change place puts in it 5w30, I made the switch to 10w30 and we'll see how she does.

That's because you drive like a girl.
I lost about 3/4-1 quart of oil in two days, in 144 miles, while using 12 gallons o' gas.

I guess girls do high speed runoffs too.

Generally speaking, high reving motors use oil when driven hard.
An extreme case; I recently read that an F1 engine burns numerous quarts of oil during a race, there's even an extra oil tank and transfer pump so they don't run out!

Used about 3/4 of a quart this past weekend (Mobil1 5w30). I believe "StageOne" used only 1/2 a quart of (Dino 10w30). But we hit Mid-Ohio the Monday and Tuesday after the Expo. 4 straight days of HPDE's... not bad oil consumption.
BTW... it was a pity that not too many Ohio folks could make it to the TracQuest event at Mid-Ohio. It was a great show as always, with tons (and I mean TONS) of seat time.
