getting ready to put a b16 in, and was looking at the tranny. what the hell is the thing under the speedo cable hook up? it has two hoses coming out of it.

btw: what did a S1 come from? what is the gearing like?

That's where the power steering used to go. Just ignore it. It doesn't serve a function in our cars.

 

does anyone know if the S1 is the original b16 tranny?

 

Its gearing is very low, its really quick acceleration, but you will be at like 4,200 rpm at 70 mph. You can just plug up those outlets for the power steering. Ryan

 

also, there are 2 s1 trannys, jdm (as I described), and usdm, teg ls tranny. Ryan

 

did the usdm come with the power steering things too? if so, how can i tell the two apart before i drive it?

 

S1/j1 tranny's came out of the DA integras with the b16a. Y1 came out of ef civics and crx's.
