start up / idle / power of cold engine
ok check it out, I have a b16a1 and was wondering why it will sometimes struggle to start (quite often actually) it will bogg down in most occasions barely kicking itself over, or it wont start at all (2 occasions now), or it will start up just fine... in ALL occasions the car is very very slow when the motor is cold... when i rapidly or even gradually step on the accelerator the motor will hesitate to dieing point unless i release the pedal... i have a generic brand chipped pr3 ECU (i know.. i know..) which may be contributing to the problem?? i have been trying to solve this problem for quite some time now... and hear that this could be clogged injectors (but why would they make it slow in cold weather???), throttle body/intake manifold gaskets?, fuel pump, clogged fuel line, or a vaccume hose problem.... fact is the intake manifold does appear to be missing a hose where it says "OUT"... any information or suggestions are appreciated.. tia..
Although I have a stock engine, and not a b16, I still might be of some assistance. I have an 89 Civic with similar problems. At first I tried Fuel Injector Cleaner and that helped, but didn't last long. I then used 104 Octane Booster which cleaned out the injectors much better, and I use that about once a month to help with my acceleration problems. As for the car starting. . I also had the same problem. It turns out I needed a new gas tank, fuel pump, and my fuel lines were rotted. It's not cheap to repair, but It's something you definitley need to get looked at.
