It's hard to learn from a book - high-performance race driving programs are your best bet.

The best way to become a better driver in general:
1. Get one of the books recommended at http://www.autocross.com I forget the one I bought.
2. Attend as many autocrosses as you can. During the autocross, let a Pro drive your car so you know what you supposed to be doing.
3. Attend a track school. Try the following few clubs: NASA, Performance Drivers Association (PDA), Porsche Club of America, BMW Club of America, etc. etc.
4. Do not go past your limits. Be patient. It takes YEARS to be a great driver. Initially, the learner curve is steep, and then you plateau with small improvements.
