I know that some of you guys like the polished muffler look in the rear but based on how my new cat back system sounded at the expo this weekend it may need to be offered in at least 2 versions.
To me, George's car was near the same sound levels going down the straight as the ITRs with the stock system. There was actually more intake noise from the intake I built for the car. I may try running the system with just the 2 light weight resonators in the B pipe and having straight tubing in the rear muffler location. This will increase the noise some (still have to do it to see how much) and also make for an extremely light weight system since the 2 resonators only weigh 8 lbs total.
So what would be your thoughts if you only saw a 2-3/4" or 3" tip at the rear with no muffler?
This is what the system looks like as is

I intend to purchase your new cat-back, but I'd prefer mine to have a muffler. I want to keep things quiet.
One could always remove the axle-back section at the track for weight savings.

The system that you had on your car at the EXPO looked and sounded extremely stealth to me. The muffler was not visible at all, tucked nicely underneath the car, which I think many people are a fan of.
Dave, your car sounded great at idle, I wasn't really paying attention to the on track noise however, so I'll take your word for it.
I'll be giving you a call about an exaust system here soon.

I spoke to you on Sunday expressing interest in the cat back. I really liked it on George's car. The tip w/ the tucked muffler was very discreet looking which I liked. The sound was great also. It was very quiet in the track. If another version was a tad bit louder that would be ok.
For me, George's car was slightly louder at idle and low rpm's than stock and even my car which also uses a twin loop muffler with ITR b-pipe. I like the way the exhaust sounds on George's car.
Quieter is definitely more tolerable for daily driving.
Doesn't sound as hawt coming down the front stretch tho.
If I wanted to switch off b/w street and track use, then wouldn't be practical to have a removable muffler section for tracking the car?

yeah, thats a fine idea. offer a straight pipe 'axleback' for track use as an option on the catback system for those who want it...
but then again, having both resonators and a muffler would be more expensive, so hmmm

This would be an excellent idea as long as noise levels weren't unreasonably high. In addition to basic weight-savings, reducing weight towards the rear of the car would also have the benefit of lowering it's polar moment of inertia.
One thing that I am still uncertain about is the difference in roles played by the resonator and muffler. First, which pieces are more restrictive, straight-through resonators or straight-thru mufflers? How would a system sound with no resonators as opposed to with no muffler? Which would ultimately flow better?

As if the system wasn't already premium priced. For those that know what they want and what they're getting, paying [a little] extra for a short section of straight-pipe and a pair of flanges & hardware wouldn't hurt my feelings any.

i think he means the one that resembles the more stock look...
i'm from cali..so a couple more lbs which equate to more sound deadening i
wouldn't mind...less attention from cops...plus the stock look..

Maybe a tad bit louder at WOT. But it sounded perfect at idle on George's car and I really liked the way it looked. Either way it's my #1 choice for an exhaust.
I am also interested in finding out what hinders the flow more a resonator or muffler.

i think its too close to the bumper... i konw its just a cosmetic thing, but it would "fit" the hole better if the tip were lower... like the stock system...

I agree...
SMSP...could you put longer hangers on there and fix that problem? Other than that I love the way it looks and sounds.

Yeh, I guess it could cme down a little. I was even thinking of an oval tip since the bumper cut out is oval.
The older 4x9 muffler doesn't fit as well as this round one. Getting something larger than this one or as big as the stock muffler may be difficult and cost prohibited.

I kind of like the new invisible muffler.

The new system looks great Dave. Feel free to post any of the pics I sent ya..
George's car pulled on quite a few R's out there with I/H/E..

I guess the real test for everyone would be to hear how it sounds with NO muffler vs Muffler present. The idea of having no muffler is kind of scary to me.....Either way, im buying one of your designs as soon as you start offering them...

again, when you took me for a ride I thought it sounded (from what I could hear) great
Personally I prefer intake noise over exhaust.
please let us know pricing on this...

Really liked how the exhaust looked on George's car at the track! Very clean. (I know such a cliche term but it's true)
Didn't get to hear the exhaust, so I look forward to hearing the two systems you are going to offer. Plus a dyno comparison of it to a stock system if possible.
