First autocross of the year was this past Sunday. Had kinda a crappy 3 runs.

But the crazy part is.... They were having a nightmare in Grid so I helped out and had a blast working grid. I worked grid for 5 hours until the event was all over.

Is it possible that I had MORE fun working the event than driving the event.....

After the event I was informed by higher ups that I am permanently assigned to work grid, and I was psyched. Is there any type of intervention available for a sickness like this... Any support groups available........

 

I was the announcer for a day. I liked the social part of it.
As I did in High School. But that's why I got crappy times, I mean grades.

We have a night series here, and I think it is more fun racing minivans in the club's school bus on the way to the events than actually driving the course.

Once I hit the mAD tHIRD gEaR vTeC from the 454, it is all over for the soccer moms!

 

Bowie, you are now the permanent bus driver. God Damn, I hate driving that thing.

You taking it over on Thursday? I haven't decided whether to drive the Civic, the Miata, my BMW, or my wife's BMW. Tough life, eh?

Well, working grid sure limits your financial exposure!

Working grid expenses = $20 covers lunch, Gatorade, sunscreen and an afternoon snack. You'll still have time for girlfriend/wife/home/family.

Autocross = All the money you have and all of your credit limits because auto cross eventually leads to HPDE, which leads to NASA or SCCA club racing, which leads to World Challenge etc. You won't have time or money to date, therefore you'll never get married, never have kids, and grow old as a broke, loney old track junkie.
