I hear a grinding noise.help!
I have a 99 gsr. I just started to hear a kinda grinding noise when I let out the clutch. I think it might be the throw bareing but not sure. Please im me if you know the answer.
With the engine turned off, work the clutch pedal the same way. If it still makes the SAME noise, then it might be the slave rod, or throw-out fork. Look under the rubber boot at the slave cylinder, grease the ball & socket where the slave pushes against the T-O fork. Also work some grease into the smaller rubber bellows around the slave shaft.
If it only makes the noise when it's running, then yeah, it sounds like the throw-out bearing. While you have the tranny off, you may as well put in a new clutch & pilot bearing, too.

Dude you are probably right about it being a throwout bearing but it could also be bad bearing within the trans!!

make sure to do your homework b4 bringing your ride to a trans shop (like AAMCO). They might try to get extra$ out of you. They might throw something at you like 'your tranny is going downhill and it needs to be re-conditioned b4 more problems pop up'. Then they will show you other trannys in the shop that have problems to make you think deeper.

what he said....that'll tell you pretty quick
as far as a new clutch and pilot bearing, that's another good idea
