Infamous header rattle, or something else?
Seems like I post about a new problem of mine everyday.. Ahh, still
my teg though.. Anyways!
Ever since I got my car I've had that annoying 3-4k RPM rattle, on accel and slowing down - At first I thought it was the fact that I had TWO stripped header bolts (wasn't me!) on my header, when I took the car in to get checked out - the mechanic replaced a stud for me, but apparently the other one requires some drilling... the noise is now at a lower RPM - I been reading on the forums that most people replace the header to get rid of the infamous header rattle, but I'm kind of reluctant on dropping 350+ and not getting rid of the noise
- Could one stripped header bolt be causing that? Or should I go with a new header? friends and I have tracked the noise down to right between the header and the cat, then of course it just travels..

Im voting for a shot resonator, just goto a muffler shop and get a new section, to test it, take it off and turn it up side down and right side up if you hear things rattling up and down then bingo, this same thing has happened to me, and is happening again cause I replaced it with a used one from a friend, super cheap fix tho, wont cost much
If you own a 94 or 95gsr, it's the HEADER! I had the same problem, rattling between 3k-4k. It's the lower part of the exhaust manifold(header) a-pipe. Just pick up a used header from 96+gsr, the one with no 02 sensor on the exhaust manifold. Don't pick one up from a 94-95gsr, those are doom to rattle sooner or alter.
I acutally had to BUY the stock header TWICE! First time some freaking vietnamese kid ripped me off, sold me some stock 95gsr header that rattled even worst then mines. I later got smart and bought a 96gsr header, made the guy drive his car there and let me examine the engine to make sure it was from his 96gsr. Rattling Problem fix.
Some people will tell you it's the heatshied and so forth but trust me, if it rattles between 3-4k rpm and you have a 94-95gsr, it's the stock exhaust manifold.

Check the heat shield on the exhaust.. I had that problem and just ripped the lower piece of the heat shield off.. The top needs to stay to protect the undercarriage.. Good luck ..... let us know!
Yeah, check the heat shield. Mine rattled at 3-4k, and I have an aftermarket header. So I ripped out all of the heat shielding, and the noise is gone!
I would say it is the header. I had the problem on my 94 gsr and got rid of it with when I got a new header. Do it yourself and save some money, it's worth it to get rid of that annoying sound.

Double check the resonator section before you go and buy a header, easy inexpensive fix if thats what it is, does it get worse when the car warms up a little? and if the sound travels and sounds like its around the cat then I would still say its the B-Pipe...
