Default obd I vs. obd II

have a friend who told me that the 6th gen civic's are harder to modify than 5th gen, because of the on board diagnostics and how easily it sends "check engine"..
NOTE:
this is with out an engine swap.. so original computer/ engine, and stuff...

is this true?? if so which is easier w/o problems when it's time to smog.??
any info on this topic would be great..

OBDI's seem to "like" engine mods better than OBDII engines. Things like O2 sensors, knock sensors, etc, are different amongst them. Plus, anytime you decide to go with Hondata, you must convert to OBDI

OBD-1 is MUCH easier to deal with than OBD-II.

OBD1 is just a little less to worry about and a little easier to tune on. I prefer OBD1.
