Default Suggestions before I start using my Harbor Freight Aluminum Jack?

Do I need to do anything besides bleed it? Just want to make sure before I start using it. Sale is still on at Harbor Freight. $169.99 for the jack at the store. Sale ends 4/21 - just for your info.

careful with the screw that locks the handle into the base. It strips very easily since the base is aluminum. 2 times I have lent the jack out it has come back stripped

Don't have your face over the bleeder screw when you're bleeding it. It sprays a pretty good stream of oil. Cover it with a rag and use hydrolic jack oil.

for those who have blead it:is the pump action nice and easy or is it incredibally hard? a friend picked one up and we just started using it w/o bleeding and the pump action is very hard.

It's harbor freight, what do you expect? I hate buying stuff from there.

With a car on it, you have to use some force.

Hrm. I must have purchased the wrong model. This one takes forever to get up to full height. My friend's gets to full height in 7 pumps.

after that thread about the harbor freight jackstands giving out under the weight of a crx, i have been leary of buying their stuff. when we use the jack, we always use jack stands. or stuff a wheel under the tires that are in the air.

Keep bleeding. Mine went from about 15 out of the box, to about 7-8 after bleeding and slow, full pumps. Keep in mind what you'll use the jack for. It's a track tool for tire changes mainly and it only takes 2 pumps to get the tires off the ground - even if it's 8 to the top.

Humm I got my trailer from them and I'm super happy with it. And when I move to Orlando I'll shop there more often.

Thanks John. I figure that's what I needed to do. I'm about to do that as my wife's car oil drains

Well I bled the system and it pumps up in 8. Do you guys leave the bleeder valve in or put the other solid piece in?

Hmm. Mine worked fine out of the box, and ever since. I'm not surprised that it takes a bit more effort than a usual 20+ pump floor jack. Ever notice that the NASCAR guys with their custom jacks usually have the heaviest guy as jackman, and he throws all his weight on the handle? You don't get something for nothing, and less pumps = more effort.

Hey now, my pimpy yellow Performance Tool jack has a 5" min height and a 23" max height but it weighs a ton. Cost about... 1/3 of that harbor freight one, though.
