My throttle body keeps clogging up. I have an EBay CAI w/ a generic filter (I should replace that with a K&N, I know). I keep cleaning my throttle body out with that Carb & Choke Cleaner stuff, but it keeps getting sticky. This never used to be a problem with my CAI + filter, but now it comes back after like two weeks. Should I just take the throttle body off and clean it out by hand? Can I do that with hand tools? Like...a ratchet + sockets? Is that going to mess any sensors up?

Hmm. Yeah, similar to oil. It's a film.

 

If the TB is dirty, then sounds like you are sucking in some trash from your intake. Inspect the hoses, filter, etc.

 

There are no hoses going into the intake, other than the ones that contain the oxygen sensors. It could be my cheap filter, I suppose. How do I clean my already dirty throttle body out?

 

So, any special instructions or considerations for removing the throttle body???
