hahahaha. I think Supra's handle pretty darn nice, but it's not as tossable as the R.

I watched a 90 Civic DX with Hoosiers spank a Viper GTS, and some other much more expensive cars at an auto-X last year The Civic was putting down 200hp, gutted with a roll cage, and the driver was an excellent driver. The Viper had to slow down too much, as the course was very tight and had a lot of technical elements.

Based upon what the person said, I think it was partially driving ability. The Sup with a skilled driver is fun to watch.

Sweeeeet! It's nice to see other people are giving our 4 bangers a shot. Most of the time they are talking bad about us/or the cars. Supra is a great car, I still think for all around activities that a Type R is better. I wouldn't mess with one in a strait line, that's for sure! Nice find

Power slides are one thing... ask him to change direction in the middle of a "slow" speed slide. Control will be eveident then.

BTW: nice video

He's doing a great job of bleeding off speed. I don't think this is the fastest way around a track. There is a place for a nice controlled drift or slide, but that video is not a good demonstration of that. Great show, but slow.

Willard and R748

it was meant more as a demostration of control, however lateral transient moves can be quick in a supra although i agree power and tire grip has it's limits when weight is considered on slalom type manouvers.

Cheers

He he. Sorry folks but in a straight line or road course, I'll take my personal fav car under $35,000 which is to say the Supra TT 6 speed. 2JZ Toyota power!

My roomie has a 6sp single turbo sup.It actually feels tight through the turns. The weight definately shows when playing around in it.I know at an autocross that the ITR will win, however,on a road course that has any sort of straights you may as well give it up.

Since you're talking about used cars, I'll take a nice early NSX over the Supra on a road course, any day of the week. And whip your butt in the Supra.

Straight line is a different story - but only if the Supra is modded.

Sweeeeet!
8400-RPM, I love your avatar. But I'm surprised you didn't
1 say "****".

The Supra is a nice car, but so is the ITR. They were built
2 for different ****. The Supra is a high-powered, heavyweight
3 muscle car and it's easy to mod inexpensively with ****,
4 just like the Mustang and the Firebird. It can beat the ****
out of anything off the line. Whereas the ITR is built for the
road course.

Everyone seems to forget that the ITR only
weighs 2600 pounds, whereas the Supra TT weighs 3500
5 pounds - and that's a shitload of weight! Stock to stock,
the Supra TT still has a power-to-weight advantage, but
not as much as people think. If the ITR weighed as much
as the Supra TT, with its current power-to-weight ratio, it
6 would have 263 horsepower. Not bad ****, huh?

On a road course, a properly driven Supra will beat an R, stock vs. stock. Once you begin modifying them, the Supra will become much faster.

You can tell the Supra guys aren't into autocrossing that much. They think Camaros Corvettes and Vipers aren't good at it. I'm pretty sure Corvettes have won more Nationals than any other car, and Camaros rule FS which the last couple of years has been the third fastest stock class.

And the Viper, well it just got thrown out of stock class completely after it won Nationals the first time.
