If you run in GStock in your R.............We are being moved to DStock. This was the Proposed plan for 2002. You can find it on Page 20 of the new issue.......You can't miss the page, it has a Yellow Type R in the middle of the new line ups. Just thought some of you would like to know.
Proposed DStock 2002: ITR, Audi TT, S4 (2000 and up), M3 (E30: Old one), Neon ACR, Dodge Daytona IROC R/T, Charger Turbo, GLH, GLH-S, Diamond Star, Subaru Impreza WRX, Celica GT-S NEW.

Obviously, every thing depends on the driver, but in my region, the only real competition will be other ITR's, this one fast guy in a AWD Talon, and the Neon's. Not too many people (in my region) can make an S4 go quick on a tight course. Also, haven't seen too many E30's. When an E30 shows up it usually isn't stock anymore. But, I was very surprised at the Lexus IS300. The paddle-stick-tranny is actually a plus. With that tranny, no need to heal-toe downshift and it can hold 2nd gear like a manual. Also, once people figure out how to make a WRX stop understeering then they will be quick also. Next year will be fun.

That's about what I was thinking, the E30's will be the hardest other than the other ITR's. Good class! I think that girl is only a C!!!!!!
Dave, i've never driven the WRX but it just seems to me that the problem may lay more with the drivers and not the car...ppl just seem to overdrive them....
Matt,
Your comment on the WRX's are correct. I drove a wagon version at Nassau Coliseum, and I started to understeer. But, once I realized the tendency, I slowed more before the turns, used a little brake to rotate the car and it was fine. It was definitely hard to get used to the power rush of the turbo. All of a sudden in the middle of a slalom you will get a rush of power. Fun car. Love the seats. If cars could "mate", the birth child of a WRX and our ITR's would be great !

P.S. => Where did u get your Porterfield Brake Pads?

You obviously haven't been to a ProSolo yet
I saw WRX bumper before I would hook in first gear in Oscoda and that was cutting .580-.620 lights. The best ITR 60 ft times were 2.3xx and the WRX was cutting 1.8xx and 1.9xx times. At the Pro's I was at least 7/10's of a second behind before I made the first turn. That's tough to make up that kind of time on 30 second courses. Look for all the AWD cars to tear up the proposed DS next year, at least in the Pro's.
The ITR's may still be the car to have in the new class for Solo 2, but I'm still worried about those E30 M3's. Those cars have tons of potential. And as noted earlier the IS300's are very good too. Kevin McCormick got beat at his last local event by one and he's one of the best GS ITR driver's out there. The TypeR's stranglehold on it's class is coming to an end and I'm enjoying it while it lasts

the WRX wagon at our last event came in dead last out of ~15 cars. they've yet to impress me in the least.
Bob Smith, who is supposed to be a nationally competitive autocrosser, brought an IS300 to our local event last weekend. He ran it stock in STS and placed 4th against a bunch of awesome local STS drivers, his first time in the car. I hear there is a 5 speed model with LSD due out soon, if its not already. Should be a fast car.
