Default Ford Mustang Saleen V8 Turbo goin into a 94 Honda Civic. !LOOK!

ok here's My situation. i am a lil tired right now so i will make this a lil short before i go into the details. I have in my Possession a 96 Ford Mustand Salleen Engine, Trans, Harness, Ecu, U name it. originally got it for my Dads Newest project car. It was given to my dad to be turbo charged in his Short bed small ford ranger. he now got hold of a chevy 454 and now is buildin a chevelle. I know this is honda tech. U will all think i am incredibly insane or stupid or whatever but it's gettin done regardless unless anyone can come up with a Legitamate Reason why It just Will not work. I have access to Everything i need. Comments ARE welcomed but i don't want to hear "why?" questions, just need a bunch of things i need to take into consideration when i Layout the design on paper or CAD. Why the 93? I have cars comin out my A$$ litterally. specially hondas. all the materials i will need as well as EVERY tool Imaginable even a few u can't(lol). I built many hondas and never once seen a v8 powered civic. of course it's gotta be RWD, Not street legal, and Automatic for simplicity, Also gonna use a carb till it's finished then install the EFI setup and the turbo once i reinforce the Unibody Chassis. My only concern at this point in designin is the Selection of my Rear. That's were i look up to my pop for those answer. he raced all the old cars back in the day. my Never liked my hondas cause he THOUGHT they were slow. After proving him wrong time and time again and in the proccess impressing him with all my custom jobs everyone said "WILL NEVER WORK" i talked him into helpin me out to combine his v8 knowlede with my import knowledge. please PLEASE don't bark at me. i have good reason to do what i do. After i wake up and read all(if any)comments i will gladly answer any question anyone has on how i manage to get something done and what i need some help with. And with that LET THE COMMENTS BEGIN! or HELP

just put a shortened 9 inch ford rear on.

the biggest problem you will have, is the torque+rwd v8 twisting the **** out of the honda chassis.

good luck, sounds like a cool project.

Sounds blasphemous.

I wonder if this "swap" will become common enough to be called "rice" too.

no ****, plus the fact that that civics, especially the rears of civics weigh practicaly nothing. you are going to have problems hooking up that power.
good luck though... do an nsx swap next.

Well, there's a kit to put a V8 in the Focus. I know they're different cars, but that makes it seem a bit more possible to me. Good luck, keep us posted.

Well just to let you know. The Nissan Pathfinder rearend is bigger and holds up better then the Ford 9 inch. But I would imagine finding gears would be easier on the narrowed 9 inch.

if it were me...I wouldnt even attempt to put it into a civic...

I would much much rather buy a used Mazda Miata and stuff that giant motor in there...BEAST is all I can say!

to you for being original and putting a good effort into this project...

you said you have cars coming out of your ***? Got any 92 - 95 Hatchbacks or EX coupes you wanna hook me up with? Thanks

Yeah, it's been done, there was a 92 accord totally tubbed out with a big rednecky v8 in it. This is not really that big a deal, all that is involved it cutting, welding, fabricating and money spending.

Sounds like some sick High School automechanics project.

By the time you're done it probably won't even be a Civic anymore, more like a tube frame w/ a few Civic body parts hanging off of it. I'd say do a more worthwhile (and streetable) project, like a Monster Miata.

MPG on those sux0rz tho, even worse than the Cobra because the Miata has such smaller wheels and tires than Mustangs, which means the engine has to spin much faster to go the same speed.

good work man, i think it is a commendable idea.
i would not do that myself because it takes away from the things i love about honda, like well set up suspension, and smaller highrevving motors.
but i think that is quite an original idea, good luck!

Yeah I agree with everyone on here. It wouldn't be worthwhile. I say get an old-school Volvo wagon and stuff it in there!!

It kills the whole import thing by stuffing a v8 in a honda, its your money. Anyways I've seen this done quite a few times, theres a guy in town doing it now with a small block. I don't know much about v8s, but I know he started moving the firewall back and getting some rear ends made. I don't think it would be worth the time but hey, its yours! good luck

I'm not sure what if anything your asking....

for a pat on the back (jfwy)

Any way I think it'll sound cool look kinda cool (sidepipes y0!) but it'll handle and drive like A$$...

make it mid-engine... that'd be original and make it handle better.. I also like the awd idea.

so what's the saleen engine... a 5.0 or the new 4.7 or something dif?

Oh right... shortened ford 9" would be fine... there are TONS of companies that'll make'em ANY length you want as long as it's a little wider than the diff. case.

NO! Everyone kow that the way to make power is with clear tail lights, rims, body kits and big spoilers! You couldn't get enough power out of a v8! Now, more serious: Drop that ford mill into a factory five kit! My dad and I are still thinking about doing that with a 5.0. With a motor like that, tweaked, and in a FF kit, I'd puke just hearing about it. That much power, and I get queezy!
